Well my patience has been tested and i think it's gone with the purple nasty.

I just don't think i want to chuck any more money at it :(

i've spent nearly 2000 on it in the past couple of months and now it needs even more work doing.

I think i'm going to break it cause it's worth naff all.

I'll have a think about it first but to be honest it's been on my mind for a while now, the terrible fuel economy as a day to day car, the fact i never really get to drive it like i should do and the endless problems with the suspension especially the HICAS

I should have never sold my NA, it was bombproof, and ever since i've had this car its in a much much worse state of repair, the interior's cack and the first mot it went for cost me 620 quid.

Doomed from the start, so could be the end of zed ownership for me folks :(

Poo, can sympathise (spelling) with ya mate, I need to spend SHIT loads on mine to get it how I want it, things go wrong, spend spend spend, when will it stop

And there was me all set to buff it up for you bud.

Bantambunny without a Z - nah, I can't see that happening! I've tried to give up Z's, but it's worse than trying to quit smoking - I was back in a 300 after only 4 months but I've been off the fags for years.

If you've already put money into it, then consider what you will lose by quitting now. You never know, the next 'fix' you do might be the last pricey job for a while and then you've got a sorted motor.

Just being positive :)

Trying matey, really trying but i keep looking as it in the driveway and i think it's the last big job to do before i can start thinking about making it look any good and it seems so much money and so far away i'm struggling to justify it all or the 60+ quid a week in petrol i use just driving around

Awwwww mate, it's just one of those bad Zed days. Once that purple nastie is sorted you'll soon have that big Bunny grin all over your face again. Can you not put it to one side for a while and save up a bit and then go through all that needs doing and start with a fresh intake of air.

Don't give up mate you've spent a bit on it and it's gonna look the dogs balls once it's all sorted ;)

It's not a case of saving up though with petrol i've used 2/3 of my income on the zed and 1/3 on bills. I don't buy myself anything at all its just zed stuff :(

Use the Civic for a bit ;) You know you want to :D

lol, i won't get a chance sharon's going to be using it from day one :D

you will sell then buy another mate, just like me. just keep the zed and fix bits as and when yu can afford to do so, then at the end you will have a sorted zed and not keep starting again

I have just bought a TT, Nathan has had his for a while now and I know what you mean about unexpected costs. I also have 2 classics that i run in the summer. The TT will replace them. I run a ford fusion diesel for everyday use and am getting around 60mpg. Buy yourself a 'sensible car' for everyday use and keep the z for special days and to impress the crumpet. As a second car you can have it on classic insurance. We both use the fusion to run about, it saves £££'s in fuel.

Derek's right. I've had a 2nd car for about 5 years now. Makes a wise investment as not only will you be saving money on fuel, but you can use the Z for fun drives rather than mundane traveling to and from work etc. You'll save on vehicle wear too.

That's the other option and to be honest i'd go out an buy myself my 8th granada scorpio if i could afford it but every penny i have is tied up in the zed atm.

I'd have kept this civic for myself but sharon needs it more than me.

I do love the zed more than any car i've owned and i'd swap it for an NA manual swb if i could but i'd need to sort this out first anyway and i'd be back to an unknown quantity again if i did.

I understand what you are saying.

I made the horrible mistake of adding up how much I have spent on the car.

In Summary paid £5k for it and spend almost 60k on it since late 2002.

60k fooking Grand, I could have had a really really nice car or even part of another house for that money.

There comes a time where you either think about it realistically and throw in the towel or go balls out. Unfortunately I went balls out, and although I am very happy with the car - it's exactly how I wanted it to be. It's never gonna be worth even 25 % of what I have spent on it. I do regret spending all the time an money on the car, but we all make mistakes.

Have a very long think about it. The Zed is a great car, but compare it's greatness with the money you may have to spend and it lowers the tone a great deal.

All the best with your decision.

Do you want to borrow a bit of rope and a 3 legged stool?

Only kidding, get yourself a little run around, that is the answer...

I'm sure you can scrape together a few hundred quid? Was at the auctions last week and a tidy H-reg Cavalier 2.0i went through for £50 with T&T.

Go back to a N/A m8

I have to be honest i'm tempted to, should have followed my instincts and bought slick_pete's little red one while i had the chance and sold mine off

I understand what you are saying.

Narrr you don't. You can maintain those old Cavaliers with a knife and fork. 2.0 8v is bulletproof.

I bought a mint condition L reg Cavalier about 3 years ago, for the hefty sum of £200....it came with a years ticket, 6 months tax and an entire tank of fuel and didn't break down once. I did about 40k in it and sold it for £25 less than I paid for it! LOL

I understand what you are saying.

Stu you say you've spent nearly £60k on your car. How much of that was mistakes that you then had to redo. How much of that is consumables like Tyres, Brakes, Clutches, Oil, Service parts and labour cost. Finally having got the Tshirt and knowing what you know now would you agree with me that reading threads on here people are still making the same mistakes and falling into the same pitfalls.

I haven't spent £60K but can quite easily add up £40K ish excluding cunsumables and what car cost on top. In 2000 a November 94 UK Z (well imports were as rare as hens teeth then) was best part of £16K

Not trying to hijack your thread Bantambunny. What's wrong with your car now or is it just a general I fooking hate you your ruining my life vibe. Which we all get I asure you.

I also think you either have to buy one thrash it then break it when it breaks or you have to bite the bullet and decide what you want from it and aim for that spec. I tell you it's like being married, but not as costly :D

You know you'll feel different in a week or two.

if it were a second car i wouldn't mind so much its just a huge drain on my income and i'm not clearing any debts plus my parents are always having a go at me about it

If its hurting that much then get shut and buy a tidy NA, wazz some TT injectors in and a induction (I'll have and Apexi induction for sale cheep soon) and get JD to chip it. Cheap with all the cudos and some go.
