my car seems to missing on the passenger side exhaust

 

the exhaust sounds like the engine is missing (passenger side), its making a putting noise, its especially bad when cold

 

does seem better when warm but not much, it also seems to miss when you floor it and i get a lot of whitish smoke from the same side of exhaust

 

any idea's

have you checked your injector connectors and coilpacks yet but?

 

they were always my first port of call when i got a missfire

If missing on an entire side (double check by pulling connectors of each coilpack to make sure which are not running), then its most likely going to to be the PTU or a break in the EFI wiring loom.

 

Check PTU connectors are sitting properly, and check for corrosion on the pins first, before replacing.

 

The smoke will be fuel, where its not burning it in the combusion process on that bank.

try a wiggle of each injector connector wire while its hot on tickover. Mine had 4 injector connectors replaced when the engine was out for turbos but for some curious reason the mechanic didnt change the back two and one of them, rear drivers side is definitely causing a miss when I start it from cold. I give it a wiggle and hear all 6 coming in and usually it stays fine the rest of the day. Yes I know I should fix it but I'll wait till its warmer. I think its reasonable to assume this injector connector issue will be affecting more and more engines now.

ive had all of minew changed, the wires coming from the injector conns are thinner than the original wires, but there is only about 4 inches of new wire, would this make a difference (the prob started long after i changed them)

You won't have to have laser treatment then will you.

this is what i did matey, change all your coilpacks to the opposite side, if then the missfire has followed it over then you know its a coil pack, if not then injector maybe could also be the ptu as mentioned also,
