What tyres are you all using on the front?

Beginning to wonder if my lowering springs, the offset of my wheels and tyre size is causing it to rub on the upper suspension arm?

Hard to tell when the car isn't moving.

Not really. You'll have witness marks on the tyres and the suspension arms?

Suspension arms are a shiney gold colour and can't see anything and the tyre has gone through the metal :o LOL

Suppose a lot depends on the wheel offset you all have.

I'm using 245/35/18's and would like to get 255's on but might be better dropping to 235's.

255's are actually cheaper too - I presume they're a popular size.

Spoke to Mac and he had same problem with exact same wheels as me and only cured it by using a 225 but that seems tiny for a 8.5" rim

Surely if the camber and toe in are set correctly and it's not catching anything then it shouldn't matter what size tyre is on as it should be planted square on the road?

Chris what is the offset of your front wheels ?

I can't remember off the top of my head - I'll try and have a look in the morning.

The outside edge of the tyre is pretty flush to the edge of the arch so I really can't understand what's going on.

Im using a 9" front with a +10 offset wheel with tein coilovers and a 235 x45 tyre no probs.

you should have 40 profile on the fronts for 18's as well ;)

235s seem to be a good size and the tramlining is not too bad

Mike

I did manage to get a 255 x 40 x17 on the front with a 9" inch rim but it rubbed on arch liner on full lock i would think i would of tramlined big time though. Why do you need a 40 profile on the front wouldnt that mean a 35 on the rear with 255 these would look silly on a 17" wheel .I dont see the point of keeping exacaly the same rollling radius it doesnt make hardly any diffrence to speddo reading anyway and most zeds are in kms anyway.

225/45 is OK, but 235's and 245's must be on 40 wall size or your increasing the rolling radius and this will effect your steering geometry. Also 245/40's do start to pull the steering around abit with the old tramlining.

Chris why don't you put some tippex/paint or some other marker on the component that you think is rubbing, then do full lock or visit some bumpy ground (your local dogging site probably) if it comes off then you know you have a problem?

 What you trying to say?

Might give that a go (the tippex, not the dogging site) LOL
