My local garage gave me Zed a minor service recently.

 

They fitted Bosch plugs (without me asking).

 

I soon found out on here Bosch are not well thought of for the 300ZX.

 

I think since then my fuel consumption may have been a little heavier than usual.

 

 

 

So, if I go to replace them with NGK, what do you think will happen?

 

The old NGK plugs still in there?

I'll just break something trying and not change them at all?

I'll manage to swop them sucessfully for new NGK?

I'll not get round to it and do nawt?

I have been looking at these Nology plugs that have a silver electrode, anyone seen or used them or have any views.

Only plugs to use in a Zed are NGK PFR6B-11C. They are the only plugs with the correct shroud length etc...

Are they right for an NA as well as a TT?

PFR6B-11 for NAs bud :) Real thing is the NGKs! NGK were comissioned by nissan to make these plugs specifically for the Z ;)

Andy's correct in saying NGK were asked to supply plugs for the Z, the Platnium range were found to provide the best spark and last longer as Andy has found. ;)

The 11b's are in fact the ones with a marginally longer shroud to futher help avoid detonation and these were supplied to the US market, UK got 11c.

Only myself and a couple other companies in the UK supply the 11b platnuim plug, which as it happens are on special offer at the moment :D

PFR7B-11C are the official colder plug for higher boost applications ;) Although fitting the 11b's will also work to prevent detonation....

I wouldnt put bosch plugs in a feckin lawnmower.

 

Wiper blades yes, plugs no.

I know yer probably sorted now mate, i just knew this was around somewhere so maybe of use to others. ;)

"PFR5B-11 N/A hot plug

PFR6B-11 N/A cooler plug for higher BHP

(This has just changed to PFR5G-11)

 

PFR5B-11B TT hot plug

PFR6B-11B TT cooler plug for higher BHP

PFR7B-11B TT Even cooler for seriously high BHP

 

The 11B's are unavailable in the UK and according to NGK are unique to the US. The UK code is PFR5B-11C, PFR6B-11C, PFR7B-11C respectivly. The difference between the B and C is a slight difference in shroud lengh to cater for country regulations.

 

NGK also do a special racing plug with a completly different code but these plugs like the very cool PFR7B-11C's foul quickly and are more suited to race use rather than road."
