Hey there..just had a stainless exhaust fitted by Longlife..did a nice job..will post some pics up later! yeah ,looks great ;straight through no cat(didnt have one before)nice sound, all good BUT...now the Z smokes..didn't before :is this ECU matter? (smoking on idle)

mileage? Sounds like turbo's to me, but check the PCV valve thread at the top of the forum.

New exhaust is probably less restrictive leading to the turbo seals giving up :(

Change the PCV valves AND hoses! Although cleaning the valves instead of replacing them often works, the springs can break/go weak so for ~£4 each its not worth it. Contact MJP in the traders section http://www.mjpauto.com he will supply with the full kit. Don't bother with the 5th hose at the back of the passenger side head, just the 4 main hoses....

Hey,thanks guys for the advice..I'm hoping it's the PCV valves..I'll try that first and let you know the result

If it is the turbo seals, chances are they have been on their way out for some time. The reduction in back pressure just shows it up.........

..........It could still go on for ages yet. My car never smoked at all but after fitting a Blue Flame exhaust last year I occasionally see a little blue smoke at idle from the left pipe.

I don't worry about it though - It's not consuming oil and the car still runs perfectly.

Perhaps Duffer is right with PCV valves ;)

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Turbo seals expensive ?

Pennies for the seals but engine out, turbo's off for reconditioning = $$$$ :(

Some more information... The car does not smoke on start-up. Runs clean for afew minutes but as soon as she warms up... LOADS of smoke!! Giving it a rev... even more! Left slightly more than right (fills the street with smoke) does this sound typically like turbo seals?

Yes it does. :(

Had the same problem with my zed after fitting my new exhaust, changed the turbos and then it was fine :hyper:

How much money are you looking at for reconditioning the turbos or replacing them and all the the fitting ? Love to know what i'm up for and the best way around it..gotta get on to it quite fast as the car is needed

Typically your looking at around £600 for engine in/out.

Turbo recon prices depend on the Company who recons them and the condition of the Turbos apon inspection - quite often there will be shaft damage, cracked housings..etc , but expect to pay around the £800 inc VAT figure for the pair reconned from a Reputable company such as Turbo Dynamics.

There are others out there who will recon for cheaper, but there are reasons why they are cheaper!
