does anybody know how much difference the larger injectors have on the performance of and n/a? i have s/s headers, decat, lightweight u/d pulley, performance airfilters, and will be getting it chipped. also how much would it cost to get hold of some decent ones and how hard are they to fit?

cheers everyone

unless you are maxing out the duty cycle of the stock ones then no, there wont be any performance increase.

Chip would be your best bet for your next mod. Try DTA. Makes a world of difference

You would also need a custom mapped chip for the larger injectors - there won't be that much choice available.

Just noticed you're in Leeds?

I have a set of injectors out of my old TT engine knocking about at my parents in Leeds.

I don't know if they would still be OK to use after hanging around for a year without use but they're yours for some beer money if you want them :duffer:

yeah ok mate i'll take em off your hands. how much do you want for em?

Once you got the TT injectors in you'll nees it mapping for them. with the correct mapping and induction, Exhaust, cams and headers you could see significant power gains.

any idea where i could get hold of a chip for the tt injectors? would the chip be easy to install myself or should i get a pro to do it?

cheers

I can install a chip, no problem, but I don't have a specific map for NA with TT injectors. I could modify one fairly easily but it would be experimental.

sounds cool. how much would it cost and would there be any chance to adapt it after its been fitted?

Hadn't you better do the mods first and then see how much duty cycle your injectors are running anything above 80% and you need new injectors?

not a bad idea. just doing a bit of reseach to see where to go next and approx how much its going to cost me. suspension and brakes are next.

I can chip your ECU but like AndyP said there's not any TT injector chips about that I know of.

I'd charge you to install the socket, but I'd do the chip for nothing - just for kicks basically. Would be interested to see how well it works.

just had a thought. can the socket be installed onto the ecu without a chip being fitted? ie. can i use my ecu as normal with a socket until i'm ready to fit the chip, then just put the chip in the socket?

You can do but sometimes the original chip gets damaged during removal so you might have to put another copy of a standard chip in. Wouldn't cost much though.

Depends on the ECU, some have loads of lacquer on the boards and the chip is a pain to remove.

Yep, no problem. 99% of the time I can remove a chip undamaged, and even if it was damaged I have a pile of old ones that could be reused.

I have heard this so many times and still no-one has been able to explain to me why fitting TT injectors into an NA will give you a power increase????? anyone want to throw some light on it now for me?

That's why I said see how much of a duty cycle your injectors are running and if it is over 80% then go for the tt injectors. If injectors run at above 80% then they are overworking become hot and unrelaible in their dosing capabilities!

That makes sense but people have said it to me as if magically fitting them will be a HP gain.

Not at all.

>> I have heard this so many times and still no-one has been able to explain to me why fitting TT injectors into an NA will give you a power increase?????

there won't be an increase in power and it's like fitting 555 cc injectors on a TT running stock boost

it has absolutely no use unless you are running over 80% injector duty cycle or running NOS.

the stock NA injectors are good for 250 rwhp and with increased fuelpressure they are able to flow enough fuel for around 300 rwhp.
