My old zed was an Auto, with a manual conversion so smaller turbos, Mines ecu, ss exhaust and Apexi filter and 1mm boost jests

My new zed is a 92 Auto, standard ecu, same ss exhaust and same Apexi air filter - no boost jets.

Now I know my auto will feel slower than the manual, but it feels LOADS slower.

How much difference in power will the mines ecu and 1mm jets make?

How much to have them fitted to my new car?

Who makes the best modified ECU for my set up?

Too make an Auto as fast as your Manuel...LOT's of £££££££....but if you do one or two good up-grade's then ....she will feel a lot better...

..

1mm Jets should give you 12 - 14PSi....so from stock, which is 9PSi @ approx 280bhp, with increased boost to that pressure, you should see between 330 - 360bhp dependant on engine/turbo condition? I've seen rebuilt OE spec engines with standard tubs and 1mm jets pushing 370bhp before.

an extra 50-80 or so horses does make a difference, and Manual do feel more lively than autos too....but its worth doing an ECU check to check for codes, a suprising amount of zeds are running around in safety mode which retards boost, engine timing and runs richer fuel maps.

Good point Paul

Expect to pay around £100'ish for an ECU chip and boost jets cost a few pence from a Welding supplies shop

ECHO....ECHO.....

...

so what is the purpose of the boost jets?

they restrict the boost thats on its way to the wastegates by literally making the opening narrower, therefore increasing boost levels. they are simple mig welding tips of various sizes (0.8mm, 1mm and 1.2mm are the common ones) which can be bought for peanuts and installed fairly easily.

the only real problem with them is that they are not controlling the boost like an EBC does - the w/gates are there to relieve pressure and by putting jets in the way youre making it harder for the excess boost to leave (although in a way thats the whole point). boost levels can spike momentarily above normal safe levels. as a general rule of thumb as long as yer engine's ok then you should be fine with 1mm jets. just make sure you have an aftermarket boost gauge on prominent display somewhere!
