I moved out to Canada last year and finally I’ll be shipping the Z over this May. The ship lands in Halifax, a massive 3750Km from my home in Winnipeg. I put the Skyline on a train to get it across but I really want to do the drive in the Z. Some of the most scenic roads out there, I’ll be sharing the driving with a friend and hoping to cover the distance in 3-4 days.

Reliability has never been a problem with my Z in the 8 years I’ve owned it, so I’m hoping for a trouble free run. Mechanically the car is excellent, I’ve put a huge amount into keeping this Z running like new.

I’m a little concerned about electrical gremlins but I’ll be carrying a spare PTU, MAF & CAS just incase.

I just wondered if there are any other common failures you guys can think of so I can organise some spares.

Maybe shares in Esso or BP might help a bit!

lol, lucky petrol is only 35p a litre out here. Some of the driving will be done in the states where its even cheaper. I think the hotels and nights out will cost more!!

Nice trip - I'd fancy that myself too

As for reliabilty - I'd just make sure my ZX was serviced before hand and take a chance. It hasn't let me down in almost 30k miles of ownership, so why should a 4000km (2500 mile) trip be any different. I have driven over 1500 miles in a week on holiday in the ZX on more than one occasion and it was fine.....

Good luck, mate!

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hi Andy! Hope its going well. Glad you're finally getting the Zed out there :-) It must double in value out there ? Sounds like an Awesome trip. Looks like you got the most obvious spares.

If it were me I would carry some antifreeze and a selection of waterpipes just in case and some clips alike just incase, sounds great fun tho, havent tried anything like that in my z yet, in my honda I did a london to disnay paris lol, and in the us I did florida to miami, nothing as far your going, do report back on how it goes, could be a learning curve, good luck

Rob

Wow, just being able to drive outside of the UK is lucky but across Canada is gonna be just awsome.

Hi Andy, this sounds like a wicked road trip.

I would take some electrical connection cleaner spray, as a lot of electrical gremlins can be caused by corroded electrical connections.

Best of luck to you.

All is going good thanks, Z values are still pretty high out here but dont think I'll sell it for a while. Deffo not an all year round car though. Winters are pretty cold with lots of snow, need AWD for winter fun!!

Really looking forward to this trip, I've hardly driven the Z in the last two years!! Be good way to get re-aquainted!!

Andy I did a 2000 mile trip to the nurburgring and back in mine and blew a turbo casing :headvswal on my last lap (only running 15psi so looks like it was badly installed    . Anyway my Z got me all the way home with no drama even with one bust turbo so as long as it was freshly primed I 'd go anywhere in my Z. trip sounds like a dream in a Z. Wind up that big GT car and let it do what it was designed for.

Good luck mate

Why dont you get in touch with some of the Z forums over there, you could arrange to meet up with people on your way If you did need help at least you'd have knowledgeable people around you

spare bulbs might be a goodidea too, as i take it some of the driving will be done at night? And not forgetting a box of tools lol, and a camera so we can see the pics :D
