What is the best stuff to seal the headlights with when I put them back together?

They seamed to be stuck with a grey silicone stuff rather than the black goo that are on the back lights.

Anyone know what I should use?

Ta,

Graham.

Right guys, I've looked into this, as I'll be doing it again soon ;)

If you use silicon, then it won't be plyable if you ever need to take them apart again!

The best stuff to use is Mastic (if you use grey, then it's the same as original), which is available from most builders merchants, It'll seal to watertight, and is flexable enough to do the job, and would still come apart again later if required.

I`ve just fitted clear side-repeaters ( about time , I know ) But I want to make the seals completely waterproof ( don`t know if water can drain out once it gets into the wings  ) .

Obviously , I would have to remove them at some point for bulb renewal .

Would mastic be best for this as well ? Is it available clear ?

Yes it would work, but why arn't they already sealed anyway? I thought they came sealed, mine did.

As for clear, no, mastic doesn't come clear (well I've never seen it clear anyway) But you could use silicon in this instance, as you wouldn't be opening them again.

I was thinking I need to fix the black rubber grommet (?) to the plastic and then somehow seal it to the wing so it`s watertight . The instructions recommend clear silicone sealant , but the question is : Is it easily removeable for bulb-changing , without scratching the paintwork ?

In that case, there is no necessary reason to bother, they're already watertight enough. Mine have been on three years now with no problems whats-so-ever.
