Just bought a bright and shiney set of chrome 18's which I will use as summer wheels and keep my deep-dish 17's for the winter..

They came with 225/35/18 tyres on 8J Rims.. not the widest rim I know but the look real good.. :p

Question...

what is the widest tyre I can fit on the rear.. bit of a culture shock when I compare them to my 265's

Could I fit 245's..??

Depending on the tyre wall mate, I have 245s Toyo proxes on the rears but could not have F1s as the tyre wall was different??

I am real easy about which tyres to use.. for all the mileage they will do between April and October.. then they will be back off and the more robust wheels will be back on for the winter..

I was looking 245/40/18's just to fiill the rear acrches.. would 245/35 be a better option..?

Maybe use Pirelli P Zero, Michelin Pilots or Continental Contact Sport2... I have used all these in the past on my Beemers..

Thanks for the update speedemon..

I will price up th Toyo's.. not sure about them though.. would prefer Pirelli or Michelin ... I heard they are grerat for grip but are very soft compound and wear quickly.. what you think..?

That said though... even 5k on the tyres, would take a couple of years for the car... given the mileage I do (and I intend to swap back to my deep-disch in winter.. My 17's have F1's all round..

225/35/18? Much to small for the Z´s tyre diameter, i´d say.

On an 8" rim, everything about 225 looks just to fat...

Toyo proxes have lasted a year so far but like you said the Z for me is more just a summer/ short distance vehicle use the good old volvo 90 % of the time. P.s my toyos are without doubt the best grippiest tyres I have ever bought deffo worth the £100 per corner I paid.

Hi Speeddemon, sorry, it´s offtopic, but I also use a good old Volvo as a daily driver.

Wich one do you own?

Mine is a nearly classical 88´ 760 with the V6 2.8...

Good price and good service, although I think some folks on here have had problems with them. No problems here tho.
