not really - auto tubs are smaller to try and reduce lag. i have auto tubs on my manual (converted from auto) and there's no noticable difference. there are so many other variables to driving that its not really worth bothering about the difference.

I dont think they are physically smaller tho, its the AR which is different that shifts the boost lower down the rev range IIRC

the reason the tubs are smaller on an auto is so they spool up quicker to assist the 'lag' of the gearbox. i know of a member on here who did an auto conversion on his manual  and the car was considerably slow until he put auto tubs on.

do it the other way round however (auto tubs on a manual) and it will in theory make it accerlerate faster but have less at top end.

others will argue that it makes no difference and i dont believe there has been any solid proof so it is all based on opinions. either way, if you are tryin to get more power out of your auto, fitted manual tubs is definately not the way to go :) get urself a boost upgrade instead :D

I've got auto tubs in my manwell. Boost kicks in at 2800 rpm instead of 3200 rpm on the old manual tubs. It makes the car a bit more pleasant around town, IMHO.
