Just fitted a chrome balance bar and noticed the there are no gaskits between it and the plenum.

If the fit between these two is poor, how will it effect the runing of the car?

Is it worth using a liquid seler?

Cheers,

Andy

There should be rubber O rings, as long as they're in good condition you should be OK. If they're a bit flat then a smear of gasket goo should do you.

Obviously, leaks on the plenum are to be avoided ...

If you've not got any O rings then you'll almost certainly have a boost leak and the car will run like s**t!

Liquid gasket will probably be OK but you'd be better getting the rings from MJP or Nissan.

Or go to B&Q and get a bag of selected O rings and use the size that fits. just the ticket and for the price of 1 Nissan O ring you got 26.

Good idea Mark! :) :nana2:

for once ;)

Even with silicone sealant on its still highly likely it will leak if there's no o-rings... Seen it before. There's no way round it. Nissan part numbers as follows:

14033-30P05 - 2 required

14033-30P06 - 1 required

The only thing I'd be wary about with the ones from B&Q is their suitability for higher temperatures....

Guess what? Mine were missing when I got the car back from you know where!

Used some red liquid gasket for 2 of them and it's been fine but I keep forgetting to replace them.

Just ordered quite a few bits from MJP and everything was in stock and arrived the next morning at a bargain price.

Excellent service! :nana2:

Shame I forgot about these O rings LOL

Erm, you know that overfuelling you were talking about chris? ;) LOL

GPS - kind of zed parts heaven

LOL It was overfueling before it went in.

Needs mapping as one of the Dutch guys modified a standard 555 chip to get it running roughly with the Doolz twin intake but it was never right and Thor had a quick tweak of the SAFC on the rolling road to get it running a bit smoother.

Since changed to twin MAFs but it's running the same chip and SAFC settings.

When I get the clutch on it would be good to have a play with your Zemulator or whatever it is you've got ;)

Surely you mean hell...

well 5 month on and 7000 miles later my B&Q O rings are still sound.

What you have to remember the B&Q O rings have to meet Corgi BS standards which means they must withstand max temps of250 degrees centigrade so they will out perform anything that Mr Nissan is going to require on his plenums.

Thats Fact (the Corgi BS standards) not just my opinion.

Surely you mean hell...

As F***ing angry as I am with GPS I think the guy was in hell prior to even seeing my car never mind all the poor bast**ds between you and me.

I think the guy was in a hole of his own making and hell is where he's been.

P.S. Being a good Christian I don't hate Johnny. Infact I think he should be martered and nailed up to a cross

They were in fact a good Christian company.

Your money was handed over and you got nothing in return apart from the satisfaction of knowing it had helped the poor.

The grease monks did a great job considering they were working for charity and like the monasteries of ancient times, their place of work was closed down by the authorities
