I have nearly all the parts collected together for my new slicktop project now.

So I have made a little progress on the build.

It still looks a mess as anyone who has seen it knows.

One day however.......

Oh it's serious !!!

Just messy at the moment.

here is another view.

Proper parts bin special :)

at the last count six cars have given up bits for this build

I've seen the colour it will be and it's stunning. That's going to be a beauty of a car when it's done pete :)

All big journey's start with little steps and not big leaps...

Cheers for the tea and the parts on saturday, always a pleasure to see you matey!

pete after seeing what you can do on your driveway im sure it will be something special.

as you may remember Paul, it looked something like this when you came.

I had to wait a long time to get a space on my mates jig to straighten it and I ended up needing to buy a whole extra car just to get that sill/floor section which neded replacing.

At the time quite a few keyboard experts said what an easy repair. Well it wasnt I can tell you. The entire shell was "bananed". My jig man Mick is however a master craftsman in his trade and all is now "strait n true". It took me nearly a day just removing that silver shell cut and preparing it to weld in. Similarly ALL the sound insulation in the corresponding car floor had to be cleaned back to bare metal before Mick could start to pull it on the jig.

that certainly has come a long way pete, i will definately be coming round to see what youve done with the old girl once im back from florida.

cant wait till you finish off the car. any more pics?

So you finaly got the subframe in then, time is running out for this winter soon it will be spring and you will be looking at driving it.

Looks like a lot of hard work, but should be worth it.

Subframe fitting needed to wait till I had installed the roll cage and worked out where it would sit, and bolt thru. although in my case I will be welding in the roll cage as an integral part of the shell. Part of the project was to develop a roll cage for the SWB shell and others may wish to bolt in only not weld in.

At present there is just one other SWB owner with a cage from the batch I had made and his car wont be on the road yet either as working from a wheelchair is slow going! ;)

If someone would just come and buy my red slicktop then I could get on even quicker with this one....(hint)!!!! :D

Another step forward.

Finally today I got one side all in place.

My custom modded braided brake lines arrived today , so next week I can get the caliper on and repeat the whole process on the other side.

Got the back down on the deck now. :nana2:

First pic shows my custom made braided brake lines. designed to get rid of one of Nissans awful clip locators. Its been replaced with a "bolt thru " male end joining a female threaded nut on the revised hard brake line.Fronts are done the same way.

Its cheaper and its better.IMO

Other pics show the 350Z brake set up installed and just behind it is the AGX adj/Eibach suspension strut and shiny new adjustable top arms. i just need to get some lower adjustable tension rods from 2 Fast-2 Cool on flea bay.

Clearance between wheel and caliper is around 1mm!! Just goes to illustrate the perils of adapting "other fitment" wheels to the 300ZX. But they were VERY cheap and came with the proper "bolt-on hub adaptors and nearly new tyres. ;)

I would like however to point out that the "gold " is NOT part of the final colur scheme. :nono:

ill leave the gold rim look to the medallion men on the forum :D
