LOL depends on the chip

chip is hardwired into the ecu and makes better use of incoming data , as long as the programming is good then agree with andy on it over the afc

can you be more specific guys im like a sponge wanted to soak up knowledge lol why is the chip so much better do you get more power ??? also mac quite impressed by your machine what kind of power is that bad boy producing ???

You might have a chipped ECU and SAFC like mine just to complicate matters - best of both worlds :D

The SAFC can only adjust the amount of fuel going in, and has a maximum adjustment limit. It does that by 'fiddling' with the MAF signal going into the ECU, making the ECU effectively see more or less air as desired.

 

A full chip, or mappable ECU can usually adjust at least fuel and timing - some can adjust the VVT point as well - and they do it 'properly', not by tricking the ECU but by having a fuel map with the right values in to start with. That means they can easily be programmed to cope with bigger injectors (outside the adjustment range of the SAFC) as well as ignition advance or retard to suit your individual engine & boost pressure.

 

I can't think of a time when an SAFC would be superior to a chip, unless you had a chip mapped by a blind monkey of course.

if i take it to a tuning company would they be able to see if its chipped as well as the afc also would it be wise if it aint chipped to get it chipped and mug off the afc ???
