No one wants to post up about oil.

Its been debated to death before.

Then the Oilman jumps in and we have endless debates about esters and stuff.

there are 100 oils out there and for every oil

out there there is someone who uses it in their 300 and someone else who wouldnt touch it with a barge pole .

as with any product . just buy the best quality you personally can afford.

I know the arguements about oil, but I am asking about 2 specific oils and would like to know which one is better suited to the zed.

relise I have said if it is a NA or TT, I own a TT if it makes a difference.

OK, I'll offer my humble opinion.........(lights touch paper and stands well back  )

If you have a fairly stock TT then 5w40 is perfectly fine. Nissan specify a 10w40 semi synth so a decent 5w40 fully synth is more than adequate for your car. Mike Feeney at MJP sells and highly recommends Millers XFS 5w40 for a ZX twin turbo. I have always used 5w40 fully synth (Millers XFS and Shell Helix Ultra) and my (87k mile) Uk spec runs perfectly with it at "textbook" oil pressure even in the height of a hot summer.

If you have a highly modified TT then go for the 10w60. The extra heat generated will most probably exceed the capabilities of a "40" rated oil.

So there you have it........

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A genuine 'fully' synth 5w40 is absolutely fine whatever state of tune your car is in, UNLESS it regularly 'exceeds' 120c oil temp, simple as that!!!

Olive oil is better

Richard thank you for the reply, I will be using the car on track once a month so i will go with the 10w60.

andyduff I think your reply is totaly pointless and is just out to cause an arguement.

Mods I have my answer now so please close this thread as I know you don't wnat an arguement over oils again.

PMSL take a ****ing joke. If you need any advice in the future I won't bother replying then..... Your loss

There are a few of us on here that like to put stupid things up, me included, you will find as a rule that if you ignor us we won't go away so you have to take the piss back, its just the way it is on here sometimes.

If you lighten up a little and act slightly infantile then you can join the rest of us children and have some fun, after all thats what makes life bearable.

Scrawni.

With attitudes like this it is no wonder this forum has a bad rep, which several ex-members have told me about. If I want a piss take answer I would have posted this in the non related area not the technical help section.

Andy since I have had my car lees than a month, I think I am entitled to wait a while before joining especially to see how much help this forum is going to be.

As for the comments about chiling out I suggest you guys actually meet me as I am the most chiled person in the world. I asked a question about two specific oils not a general what oil is best, to see if there was a stong opinion about them, over on different forums they tend to have a recomend oil thread after about 6 hours and 30ish views no had even replied, so I think a bump is alright.

It is not that I can't be arse it is because I am extremely busy just now with reubilding my 200sx (500+bhp build) renovating a house and also working 10 hours a day, 6 days a week at the mo so maybe my free time is limited.

Yeah I got an attitude problem - slap me :slap: :D

To come on and start laying down the law after a handfull of posts, wtf did you expect me to reply with? Bad rep from ex members? You gotta ask why they're ex members really - they're obviously not bitter or anything....

So, we can't have a laugh and must keep everything sensible because you say so.... Ok whatever you say BOSS :D

As I said before, take a ****ing joke ;)

Andy I am not going to bother wasting my time with this it was pointless for you to post what you did as it had no benefit or worth to this thread, I simply wanted this thread to stay on track and answer the question and not get useless pointless answers as oil is a common question for people new to these cars.

I also know why these people are ex-members and it was through there own choice.

Ok ok ok I'm sorry for posting in your thread which was obviously so important to you.

Next time you have a problem I'll simply not post, how does that sound? No my answer wasn't relevant to your question but ffs it was hardly a long winded answer so can't of wasted that much time out of your obviously incredibly busy schedule (I'm working SEVEN days a week btw and a lot longer than 10 hours a day). Maybe you'd like to check out some of my other posts in the technical section before you start having a pop at me? I may be of some use to you in the future.... Then again, perhaps you know everything, in which case you wouldn't have had to ask the oil question in the first place...

Now lets be friends :D

Would you like to come round to my house for tea? LOL :D

ANDY! :nono:

Bite me :D ;)
