A pair of 6 x 9s will fit directly into the front doors if you take out the metal adapters. You'll need to mount them on the door cards directly to get the depth to sink them in but the ones i had had rather large magnets. I'll take some pics in the morning.

Here´s mine

At first i just made the plate, just to see if the idea´s good. But when i saw

that it wase quite ok, and i knew i´m lazy, i deceided to let it that way until

I can´t stand it...

I´m getting a watercutted "Z" which is screwed on the 2 upper and 2 lower screws.

Made of stainless steel, with a little distance to the speaker. The speaker with it´s

phase plug looks so damn good, I don´t wanna hide it... :nono:

By the way: It´s a Alpine SPR 57 LS, probably the 5x7 chassis with the best sound buyable in this size. And it is really cheap, for the quality it brings...

And Dave: It gets better screws then ;)

Here's mine, normal 250watt 4 way 6 x 9s

Bolted straight in without any need to drill anything out on the door, just cut the hole out of the door cards and bolted them on.

Fit like a dream flush against the panel:

Hi Tony,

how do you mean "custom build"? A system of "non compo"-speakers with handcrafted

crossovers? Do you have a pic of "cona 2k´s"?

Funnily enough I'm about to start work (finally) on the custom pods to fit the component speakers and the sub/amp enclosures to fit the audio gear that you can see in my Journal (luckily I've done it before and am reasonably handy with the old fibreglass ;)). Out of interest, does anyone know off hand the depth of the stock speakers? (My Zeds over in the bodyshop so would be good to know and save a journey over there!)

wish i could tell you matey from the back of the 6 x 9 to the back of the magnet is 80mm and sits fine with no contact to the glass or mechanism

Cheers Nick, a rough guide is all I need TBH so that's great. They'll be sat proud (ish) of the door to allow them to be angled towards the driver/passenger so hopefully depth issues won't be a problem but it's good to know anyway! :)
