Alloys, which brands to go for and which to avoid???

I was just wondering what all your opinions on Alloys were. Which are the good brands and which ones to avoid. Ours may look good from far but close up, they not that great and they seem to chip really easily, they are BK racing. We had AEZ ones on our little Astra we had a while back and i thought they were nasty but compared to the BK racing ones they're good.

Maybe i just got some from a shite batch?????

HRE, Rays/Volk, Advan, BBS etc are all good quality brands. Best wheels you can buy are 3 piece forged split rims.

Brands like OZ, Dotz, Rial are middle of the road wheels. Nice wheels with reasonable quality.

Cheaper brands are Fox, BK racing, Team Dynamics, Wolfrace, TSW, League etc are the cheaper brands. Make 'some' nice looking wheels, but quality can be questionable as they use quite soft cast alloy and paint finish is often thin and sometimes sketchy.

Thanks FunkySi, i have heard of Volk and BBS and like the rims, just wish i could afford them !!

Will prob just have to stick with the ones we've got for now or might get some second hand ones and refurb them.

Enki /trail /ssr/veilside /ultralite/buddy club/volk/advan all have the jawa mark which is like the japenese kite mark and are good quality and many are forged rims.Id avoid rims made in the uk or italy they can be bad quality.German made wheels are good quality so are some us made wheels.

i thought OZ were up there with BBS like the ones on the ferarri 550M

Some are. Most aren't, although still pretty good brand. I like OZ anyway. Most of their stuff is mono-block. Their two and 3 peice wheels which you seldom see are very nice.

I've used 'Ace' alloys for over 30 years and can safely say they're second to none both in terms of quality and value for money. ;)

Yeah ACE are nice wheels. Make a lot of BMW fitment stuff iirc.

Are they ok?

Crickey, I was joking. I do have Ace 'Turbine' wheels but thought they were at the cheaper end of the spectrum.

Well, I'm pleased if they're helf decent!

I went for Trafficstar STM's. High quality 3 piece forged split rims. Also love BBS LM's, another high quality make and light as a feather to boot.

i have a set of bk racing black chrome alloys which i was given. they are a black chrome and are peeling. i was going to attempt to repaint them but just dont seem worth it. IMO bk racing chrome alloys are shite!

Azev make some nice wheels too - German quality product at a reasonable price.......

.......then I may be a bit biased

Biased???

Not at all. :nono:

if youve got it then flaunt it. ;)

The ultimate in cool Retro Look. :nana2:

Yeah, they aren't bad. They make some cheaper stuff, but from what I've seen, quality looks pretty reasonable.

I'm with Friday on the BBS LM front. Stunning wheels. Would love a set of 19" LMs for mine. HRE make a wheel that is nicer though, as far as my tastes go, but BBS are more universally known and the LM always gets admiring comments.
