Hi Guys.

 

Does anyone know if it is possable to swap a complete (16 bit) ecu from a 96 n/a for an 8 bit one from an earlier model? . . . . basically I want to be able to fit a custom chip which is not so easy to do with my current ecu

 

I welcome your feedback or any alternative suggestions

Yes it is. I know someone who's done it.

Yes, I have swapped mine. The only problem is that the new one (8 bit) is complaining about a fuel temperature senser problem (my car doesn't have one), but this is only noticable if you start looking for error codes.

I thought all cars had fuel temp sensors - mine has.

Maybe just the connector plug has come off?

It's in the centre of the plenum under the cover if I remember rightly...

i got some Jap Tuned Ecus for sale if u intereted ...all are stage 1 (intake, free flow exhaust) got them in auto and manual , they are used .. got an Impul, SPL, Kakimoto, Tommy Kaira, Trial, Mines(getting the mines soon)...

Pretty sure when I checked this out some of the injectors were on different connectors on the 96+ and the oddball hybrid (95-96?) were the same as the early ones. Could be wrong though. Sure Eric will know if he reads this.

Might be you wouldn't notice the injector sequencing being off anyway, not sure when/if the switch from sequential to batch is made but likely to be sequential on idle I'd have thought.

There was a suspiciously empty threaded hole where I expected it to be, but the error dissapeared when I put the old ECU back it.

 

I put it down to the Nissan cost cutting on later cars, which explains all the other missing stuff on my car.
