Ok so hes had my car a week, As i said last time he thinks an injector has gone? So phoned tonight he has the part and hes going to do it tommorow.

What else could it be if it doesnt turn out to be the injector.. All have sparks etc he tells me hes ruled out coil packs and the PTU, he says hes cleaned all the connectors, So now hes replacing the injector, So if it isnt that what other options are there ?

low compression on one or more cylinders

It's engine out to replace the damaged parts i.e piston/rings/valves

Are injectors a common problem on zeds?

Edit: Also dunno if this would change your mind but would it likely be compresion if when it first started misfiring when i had got a cpl of miles down the road it cleared itself and was fine again?

Also he got one of the 2 non firing cylinders working again by cleaning/fiddling with the connectors

I've tried reading through all your posts on this, but may of missed something, so please excuse me if it's already been mentioned. :D

How has this mechanic ruled out the PTU?

An intermittent PTU problem can be caused by heat within the unit. This heat is built up, as the unit is bolted to the cam cover. heat in the engine is transfered into the casing of the PTU. If there is a defective soldered joint within the unit, then this heat build-up will dramatically affect this joint, thus affecting the spark.

Under load the unit could be failing, or even one of the connections onto the PTU or even one of the Coil Packs.

Injector? Is there no fuel going into the cylinder then?

Missfire that disappears as the engine warms up? Sounds like a damaged valve....

he says he ruled out the PTU and coil packs etc as the misfiring cylinders have sparks ?

Dont know if theres no fuel going in can he check this ?

When the problem arose it was last monday morning, missfiring, lack of speed etc, 2 mile down the road it cleared and was fine, monday night same thing but didnt clear as quick.

Bassicly its gone back to this bloke because hes the dealer i bought it off and it had a 3 month warranty...

Arrr, didn't realise this bit :D Well at least you arn't being fleeced!!! As I'm assuming he's taking ALL the expense on?

Thought I'd missed something important ;) Well warming up wouldn't improve the PTU then. So ignore my comments!! ;)

im guessing so he hasnt stated otherwise, He better be covering it all, I dont class this problem as general wear and tear.

If it was the PTU would it be out constant? Also like i say they all have sparks ?

Im guessing it could still be a dodgy injector tho right ?? As this is what hes replacing tommorow and im hoping it will fix it

Yeah, ignore the PTU side then, as I'd missed that it wouldn't caurse this problem. Yes it could be the injector then. Thingers crossed for tomorrow then :duffer:

i only had it for 3 weeks when this happend, was just starting to really enjoy it :(

I've been looking through your posts and no ones mentioned the maf yet?

That may be on its way out.

Take a look at the post above you last one mate ^^^^^^^^ LOL

AFM and MAF. Same thing doode!

Could the Airflow meter cause a couple/one of the cylinders to stop fireing then ? and the same cylinder each time ?

Surely he must know how to diagnose an injector fault, and what it entails to change one. All the other options, PTU, MAF, Coil pack or even the CAS are easy to change. An injector is a plenum off job so certainly not a soft option.

Have you checked the O2 sensors?

Im guessing on one of them(on the bad sylinder side) is mailfunctioning.

When the engine is warmed up, it may fool the ECU with wrong feedback.

Possibly, but never seen it cause that type of symptom.

Does this worsen under load? Does it get particularly worse when you increase the revs?

F....s up the A/f mix, so its possible....

But would be evident on all cylinders...

But just one of the sides.. 3 sylinders, and if the sylinder nearest to the firewall is hotter, the problem will start here..Right?

Just an idea, and its worth changing the O2 sensors if they are old..

Right, missed that post, and yeah I do know.

Looking like it could be anything this the way people are chucking ideas in.

This whole thing is sounding like a dodgy injector to me, can they block up partially for any reason, or maybe just stop working?

This is looking like a case of fuel starvation, which is bad, my moneys on the injector(s).

Get new ones, or used ones that you know work, and whats the problem if its NOT the injectors? at least you'd have eliminated one possibility.
