2day, I ar' mowstly moddin' me Nova...

So, the decision to call it quits with the Z has finally arrived. I just have lost heart with the thing and have decided to start work on a new phat ride.

My friend left me a gorgeous old classic in my garage while he fixes up his other car.

I present you, my new mean machine!! All 1.2 litres of single point injection throbbing Spanish passion...yes, they were built in Spain!

As you can see, I'm trying to develop some race inspired graphics for the bonnet. Starting to look kinda cool. Just need to save up for a huge piece of mesh for the front now.

One major problem with the Nova was the fact that it was actually a little too big for the garage. So, I modified the door a little. A cheap and easy mod, that you Zedders could use since your cars as so wide.

It's very easy to do and only takes a few minutes. All you need to do is slam the door against the wall hard enough and you'll be able to fold the edge lip. As can be seen.....

Now you have to be very careful not to go too far with it, otherwise the door won't shut. I'm a dab hand at this and as you can see, after some precision handling, you can see that the door still sits nice and snug.

Now, the next thing, I had to try and pull out the dent in the door that accidentally got there after I slipped over a few times feet first... this didn't go to plan. My aim was to, as all car bodyshops do to huge dents, and make a little hole in the metal and use a tool to 'pull' the dent out. Now, I only had a universal persuasion tool to hand, but it did have a nail claw in one side, so I was able to apply force to it and use that to create a hole AND to pull. Pretty ingenious aren't I.

As you can see, it didn't quite go to plan.....

...but you get the idea....it 'could' have worked, as can be shown in this pic...

Next on the list was a bit of weight saving. Since all 1.2 Novas are all so powerful and running 9's at pod, I thought I'd try and get rid of as much excess weight as possible to see if I might be able to get into the 8s.

So, out came the universal persuasion tool again and I got to work removing the car of all its filler....there's also another bonus of doing this which I'll explain later...

As you can see, almost a 1/4 of the car was covered in it. But it came off quite nicely and gives a more rugged look.

As I've already mentioned, there was another bonus of using the universal persuasion tool on the arches. There was a little bit of rust on there, slightly more than I'd thought. I'm a bit angry about this as the owner said it was mint for the year. Anyway, I decided to do 2 things at once and beat the rust out and ALSO reshape the arch. "Why reshape the arch?" I hear you say. Arrrr, well, that's because, when I'm not doing 8s at the Pod, I can fit my 22" chromes!! Proper phat.

Shouldn't be any chance of rubbing now!

Quite a bit more came off. Starting to make those arches wide now!

Nearly all done. Deffo space for my chromes now! How cool!

As you can see, great swathes of filler came off. Everyone on the forum knows how much I detest filler. Should remain on the shelves in B&Q. So this following photo of all the remnants on the floor fills me with much happiness and jubilation.

Next area to tackle was the interior. Now, because I want to be pulling 8s at pod AND entering the car for sound offs, I thought the best thing to do would be to remove the interior completely. Don't worry, I haven't gone completely mad, the steering wheel has gone, but I have 2 pairs of mole grips instead! Should save some more weight and have the added bonus of being a BeeGeeVinz anti-theft device at the same time, just without the handbag!!

As previously mentioned, I've started work on my install. You'll see on the drivers side, some wood. This is actually an old bed side table (amazing what you can use to mod your phat ride). I'm making up some quick release interior panels so I can fit my 32 12" subs.

Car nearly done. Just need to do some more work on that door. Bit gutted about that as it was pretty mint. Certainly had less filler than the arches in it. :(

I've actually got my first alloy wheel. It's not a 22" chrome, but the first of my track wheels. Really tidy wheel. You can see though that I've already started to beat out the front arch for the new rims to fit.

Now, because I get worried about people pinching bits from the car, I took the added step of doing away with stickers. Everyone on the forum knows how much I hate stickers anyway, so, simply, I etched my desired sponsors’ names onto the doors. Not only will these never wash off, but you can't pinch them!!! Genius!!

Now, I've never seen a Nova hatch convertible. Only saloons. So, I thought it would be a great idea to make one. Unfortunately, I don't have any power tools, so had to make do with a sturdy old wood saw. It starting to cut through the roof quite well, but I'm beginning to wonder what I let myself in for as it's taking so long!

Anyway, that's enough fun for this weekend. I'm exhausted but managed to get the hardest jobs out of the way.

Planning on doing a full service next weekend when my mate comes back to help me, so please keep referring to this thread as I will update you!

OMFG...

did you take your pills today?

Some quality work there   , i know where to come now when i want some phat mods doing

Thats my car mofo!!

Damn you were bored! Btw you will need to remove the rear windows entirely to get 22"s on.

Good luck on the strip @ POD, people will laugh so much it will suck the air from the atmosphere & the 1.2 will be down on power by as much as 400%.
