You're only losing the pay channels - all the free channels continue: the BBC stuff, ITV 1 & 2, C4, C5 ITN news, QVC. So you can carry on watching CBBC to your hearts content! biggrin.gif

For pay channels I'm afraid you're down to either Sky satellite or cable. If you've got a choice, check out the two packages and see if (esp with cable) you can do a deal incl your internet. You've got broadband already, I think?

Cheers - Gio

Ive just gone with Telewest cable.

You could stump up the cash and buy it, go halfs with Waz, anytime before midnight and it's yours.

As far as I know there are no refunds due to them being in administration. I might be wrong it might eb like that if they are in liquidation. Oh well i wouldnt get your hopes up on getting a refund.

Oh bollocks-

I spent nearly a grand on an integrated digital TV about 12 months ago, gutted!

DAve

Now here's a thing - you could actually buy a terrestrial digital set-top-box. But no-one did. They all (well nearly all) got a free box in return for taking out a subscription to the pay channels on the system - i.e. the ITV Digital (was On Digital) package.

But now the pay service is being suspended, subscribers don't have to pay anymore so cancel your sub. But who is going to ask for the box back?

You might as well keep it a) because why throw it away, b) there's still some freebie channels and c) there is bound to be another service along in the next few months or so.

The technical system is not going to go away and there are over 1 million set-top-boxes which is valuable real estate for the next pay TV operator who wants a crack at it.

So don't panic - just stop paying for it! And if you can't live without the pay channels, you'll have to go to cable or satellite depending on what channels they offer / you want.

Yours the satellite guru - Gio

I dont think it will be up soon. Too many people have there system chipped. I know a few people who have ITV Digital and not one of them pays for it.

And also I think the country is a bit sick of up to 20 football matches a week on TV. Come on I know poeple like football. I dread work on a Sunday where I know I will have to watch 4 football matches in 1 day. Even watching 2 at once does my head in. Yes I do have to watch 2 matches at one at work.

Also who the hell wants to watch division 2 and 3 matches? Only the people who suport them. What 20,000 people at most, of which only 10,000 will either be at the match or in the pub watching it. So that leaves 10,000, of which only 5% will have ITV Digital. So only 500 will see it at home on ITV Digital.

SRRAE,

Who has their system chipped? I didnt know you can chip Ondigital (itv digital, whatever) boxes! heheh.

Must be Ace to have all the channels for free.

I hear that some people never get the things for free cos it never fucking works, I mean whod pay 10 to get free channels and it never works, hehehe.

You want the best you gotta pay money, Sky is the way to go. Cable is ok, but it will get on your tits after a while, my cable box keeps crashing and stuff.

Having said that, I wont be getting sky

a. I dont want thebest (Obviously)

2. I cant be arsed payin shit loads for a half decent channel package.

Not the ones in Divisions 2 & 3 who are the ones who'll lose their jobs. Hopefully the Football League will take Carlton and Granada to court and make them pay up anyway.

What do those of you who don't like sport like to do? Knitting, flower arranging, that type of stuff? tongue.gif

And the sad thing is, if you lot were any good at Football it might not be so bad, lol

Footi sucks piles, To many cry babys on the field im afraid. I mean really, the guy gest tipped and he falls over and crys for half hour, it spoils the game.

(this thread was by no means intended to upset Topsquads, but rather to offend anyone who likes football) biggrin.gif

No Tooley. I hate it too. Cant stand to see over paid pansies kick a ball. They think they are hard my pushing, but I have never seen a punch thrown, and they roll on the floor for ages cos their toe got stepped on. And then they try say they are hard.

Warren, can you let me know all of the products, suppliers & services etc. that you use. I can then avoid most of these. Sorry but you just don't seem to have a lot of luck mate!

Dave, I don't have any of the sport channels and I am kept plent busy; Driving, shagging, drinking, making money, spending money and watching any one of the dozens of other non sport channels amongst other things. I always try to double up the pleasure so I do my knitting whilst watching TV. Did my flower arranging (well the bedding plants) at Easter.

Don't like cricket, football, tennis, golf or virtually any other sport with spherical objects, including rugby.

Football, yeah I think it's that stuff that makes the telly go off ... Not interested in any sport unless it involves burning hydrocarbons and even then I'm selective.

Actually, must admit to a sort of hypnotic facination with snooker, but there again that's no more a sport than is darts, or marbles or tiddlywinks. biggrin.gif

I can't see why you lot are argueing biggrin.gif The fact of the matter is not many people like football - the end result is that ITV Digitals program content is not liked, which then means less subscriptions, which then means they go bust biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif See its easy biggrin.gif Football really is shite - its a load of men running round in shorts ffs!!! How gay is that??? biggrin.gif

PS: Completely agree with you btw, can't see the point of watching overpaid, publicity seeking, whimps kicking a ball round a field then kissing and hugging each other when they manage to place said ball in the back of a net! biggrin.gif

PPS - sorry Matty

Now cricket, that's a different matter al together.

Football does suck a fair bit, kinda okay in small doses, but cricket rocks. smile.gif

Infact the West Indies Vs India 3rd test starts tomorrow, ace. smile.gif

Oh, I have proper sky, so I can still watch it.

[This message has been edited by Jezz_S13 (edited 01-05-2002).]

Just for the record I am not an overpaid wimp!

biggrin.gif

I do not seek publicity, do I?

biggrin.gif

Nor do I cry like a baby when tackled! (I bide my time and kick the fookers back)

biggrin.gif

I love my football and don't hold any grudges against people who don't like it.

biggrin.gif

And I don't kiss men.... wink.gif

Matty.
