I am in the process of doing a manual conversion. Can anyone tell me the purpose of the neutral switch on the manual gearbox, do I need to worry about it?

I seem to recollect that if the clutch is depressed and the box is in neutral then the revs are raised slightly, or something similar. Try a search, I'm sure I've posted something about this in the distant past.

Oh, I'll join you in this as I'm about to do the same, if the rain ever goes off, grrr.

the ECU "senses" when the car is in gear and adjusts revs and timing accordingly

 

the sensor itself is loacted at the back of the gearbox, nearest one to the shifter
