I was recently unfortunate enough to pull out of a junction in front of a vauxhall omega  It was totally my fault and although the omega was a write off the only thing that i damaged was bumper, drivers headlight and drivers intercooler as the car seemed only to be pushed down by the impact. It still runs etc but when it went to the bodyshop to be put on the dozer for straightening it couldnt be held down enough and have now been told it will prob have to be jigged  I dont think there is any actual chassis damage but the nose cone is twisted and about 10 to 15mm out.

My dilemma is do i fix it or do i buy new one and strip mine to sell parts

Fix it.... depending on chassis damage, dosent soundlike a lot of damage, maybe a couple of hundred for parts you can fit your self, the jig work if needed, then spraying of replaced body parts. be a shame to see another zed being broken.....

Yes, i agree it would be a shame. Its just all the hassle of moving it around bodyshops etc and actually finding a garage up here that can be bothered doing none insurance work. Have got a veilside c2 kit in garage anyway.

New Maldon, i know it well.

Headlight - £50

Bumper - £30 (for stock)

Intercooler - £20

its just dependent on the cost for chassis to be "jigged"

I think the chassis is ok, it now drives with a slight pull but this is prob due to suspension and steering (i hope).I think it just needs strapped down as when they tried to straighten it the car was lifting instead as the damage seems to be pushed down and not in.

Have got all parts for repair except drivers indicator

Its amazing what can be done on a jig, i have seen a very bent z become straight again

what is a jig

what is a jig

A good question and one that I will be answering with an article in the Z Club Magazine soon along with some pics and a description from a skilled operator.

However a basic reply here.

A jig is a huge flat steel bed on wheels with multiple attachment points on it. The damaged car is bolted to the jig. Measurement points are taken and then chains/pullers are attached to pull the jig with the car attached till the shell measures correctly ie is straight and true.

The dance variety come in Scottish and Irish versions.LOL!

Why wont my pics appear :headvswal

Because you've used the wrong URL. ;)

BTW, that's very very minor damage. That shouldn't need jigging at all.

that should be an easy fix mate. when i had a fight with a roundabout i bent the whole front chassis, tarnished my sexy new bumper and buggered the shocks. one week at a garage and one week at a bodyshop and she came out better than ever!

Repaired it shall be. the damage on the photo doesnt look too bad but is worse in reality as it seems to be pushed right down. the omega hit me at at least 30mph and i was moving forwards aswell
