want something fairly nippy

not too impracticle

nothing crazy on insurance

something easy to drive around the town

I'd keep an open mind and look for a really clean, honest car you and she like, not set your hearts on one make / model.

What about a 300zx :x: thats all they seem to be worth at the moment

honda mk2 crx from 1988 to 1993, up to 1990 they had 130bhp and a 1/4 mile time of approx 15.5 secs, 1990 onwards they got the 1600cc vtec engine with 150bhp but most seem to be pushing 160-170bhp even at 150.000 miles plus. insurance is cheap, ultra reliable, very econimical 1600cc engines, a 100 miles from £10 petrol is easily possible.

can seat 4 adults and can take a washing machine in the boot :D

prices range from £500 to £2000 for a early non vtec, and £1000 to £4500 for a vtec.

for £2000 you would get a top example early non vtec crx, or a decent vtec.

on the road they are fun and shock new civic type R's with there performance.

if you add a turbo blowing 6psi to a early crx and your lucking at approx 200 bhp and low 14 sec 1/4 miles, add a turbo to a vtec and your on mid 13 sec 1/4 miles, this can be done for about £1000 and the stock engines are fine with it.

Astra GSi. :)

C20XE is pretty much bullet proof. If she gets bored of the performance, then slip a C20LET in there. Cheap cars, fast, easy to maintain.

I think we are now heading towards the crx vt

she likes the look of them more than anything else iv shown her!

been on the crx forums and there are some very nice examples for around that price, just got to be quick. they seem to sell pretty quickley!

you're misses has good taste! i'd recommend she has a drive in both the 130bhp non vtec and the 150 bhp vtec both are great cars (i've owned over 30 in the past 7 yrs) but both drive completly differently, the non vtec is very gutsy all the way to the stock 7000 rev limit.

were as below 5000 rpm vtecs feel like a average 1600cc car but after 5000 all hell breaks loose all the way to the stock rev limit of 8000 rpm :D

one guy i knew had never hit the vtec point and driven it in vtec, he used to change gear before and had never given it any welly...he was very shocked when he found out wat happened after 5000 rpm, jekyl and hyde was what he described it like :D

the hard thing is going to be finding some close by to take out.

i like them too...they looking like little mean darts!

i call them baby bullets :D

i've got 6 at the mo but non are on the road apart from my workhorse with a slipping "original" clutch..it's on 149000 miles! other wise we could have aranged something.

a nice non vtec has just sold on honda crx.co.uk for £1100 it was a real bargain.. keep a look out on the site, you can get some real bargains

6??

u greedy bugger!!

iregistered on that tonight...the good ones seem to go fat though and again not many this end of the country,

guess its just a case of keeping eyes open and money ready.

hurry up and gt some of yours back on the road!!

zx's and crx's are my favourite cars, for the money nothing comes close! i myself prefer the non vtecs they are much more fun and can be got cheap.

i've converted my mates from fords and vauxhalls etc and alot of people think they are a 2000cc engine! keep looking and dont be put of my high mileage even if the engines sound abit rattly cos its easy to sort, i will keep my eyes open for you too,
