i have been looking at a pic of the rear seats and have just thought is there anyone that make specific bumper seats for the zx as it doesnt look like a standard one will fit in the back

and now the law states any child under 4ft (i think it is) has to have a bumper seat its just got me thinking

Yeah i have that problem, kid has to sit in the front on his booster seat and the mrs in the back! The rear bucket type seats fit him perectly but the law is the law.

yeah man i wonder how har it would be to actually make one and if its legal to make one could make one to match interior

its rubbish the seat law esp if they are lap belts aka rear seats series 1 zeds...how does raising the height make it safer when using a lap belt ?????? in some cars using a booster seat means the childs head is above the rear of the seat making it more dangerous if whiplashed

yep i know that one but its just a case of do gooders again in my opinion just another way to make you pay to be on the road i have always stuck to having car seats for the kids and so on as i do agree with them but this booster seat thing does seem a little excessive

The way that's been posted on here before is to lay a bin liner over the seat and fill the 'bucket' with expanding foam. Once this has cured, level it off, then it can be used as a flat bed for the booster seat.

This mould of the seat could be covered with a matching material for the seats or door/quarter panel trim.

This method has been done, and is apparently successful.

Personally I don't use booster seats for my kids in the car, as my son is above the legal height and my daughter is one inch below, so fook the law!! :D Anyway i retro-fitted UK three point belts :D

nice one matey that will be what i do as it will be a while before the kids are out of boosters

I've got some more info........

My vehicle has lap belts..

A child is not exempt from using a child restraint if using a seat with only a lap belt. Cars with only lap belts are becoming increasingly uncommon. In many cases, the lap belt is only in the centre seat and the exemption [see Q. 2C] for vehicles in which three restraints cannot be fitted in the rear seat may apply.

It is difficult to find a child seat or booster that the manufacturer has tested just with a lap belt and you may need to talk to a specialist supplier - or consider retro-fitting a lap and diagonal belt. A manufacturer may advise that a particular child restraint system is only suitable for use with a lap and diagonal, or that their product should not be used with a lap belt only. This advice should be taken seriously.

A lap belt does not provide maximum protection for a child, whether used with a booster or not. The child's unrestrained upper body is liable to pivot around the lap belt with the increased risk of high loadings to the soft tissues of the abdomen. A lap belt may also not have interia reel retraction etc, making it difficult to judge fitment of a lap belt across a child occupant.

Children may need to be shuffled round in the vehicle so that they use seats where their child seats/boosters can be fitted, including a front seat - but check advice about children and air-bags
