what would it take to get over 400bhp out of an N/A?

reason for me asking is that theres a bloke round my way with an N/A whos boasting a 460bhp figure.

surely this cant be possible without major internal engine rework and nitros.

he's supposably a member on here but i dont know his nik name and he takes it racing regualy

Pah, im closer to 500, tell him to try harder.

Is that all LOL my N/A is approaching 1000 bhp at the rear wheels.

I'm sure a hard core bottom end, some reworked heads + mad cams, a super charger, some new management and a dribble of NOS would get you close to 400.

Highest NA I have seen in the states only had about 300 horses.

Without Forced induction or a huge shot of NOS with forged internals it would'nt be possible to get anywhere near the figures he boasts.

well i can tell you now, he hasnt got any internal mods and as far as i know no induction up grade either,

he recons its the fastest in bracknell, which aint bad for an auto N/A

As a general rule of thumb, a really well tuned up NA will get 100bhp per ltr engine size, so as Legrath says, 300 will be very good going, 460 bit of a joke IMO.

You going to tell us who it is :D :D although I think I know.

if he has that much power then it must have been setup on a dyno, where is his printout?

exactly.

Getting 100bhp per litre on any normally aspirated engine is difficult. So as David says 300bhp is about the max and that would need LOTS of INTERNAL engine work.

guy must be a total :xxx:

he moved to bracknell from ascot but i dont know his nick name on here.

its a black zed, with single tail pipe, and last time i saw it , it had enough wings and fins to make batman proud

Paul.

ahh thats it, he must have the rocket motor from the bat mobile! :x:

Comon who ever bragged slightly to much own up! Public slogging coming up.

To get 100bhp per 1000cc or more the engine has to rev higher. Do Na's have vvt like the tts? Even so its not the same as the vvt used in the honda engines that do produce 100bhp/1000cc i have read.

I did see an old F1 car on that racecars site the 300zx was found on, that was 1350bhp/1500cc!!!! And about 800kgs.

was a tt v6 as well, would deffo fit in a z!!

That was dry sumped of course and revved to like 20k.

it certainly looks like although i cant be too sure, dont wanna upset the owner if it aint lol

am i right in thinking you know about this proclaimed 400+ then?

It might just be a case of chinese whispers mate, i have heard people at shows looking at my car, and telling a mate next to them they are like 600bhp or something stupid, might not be his fault

this was from the horses mouth bud!!! he used to live in the flat below and even his mate that took over the place told me the horse power he'd boasted

Hi,

Back in 2001, 'Banzai' magazine, featured a Nissan Micra ice racer with a 3.2 litre normally aspirated 427bhp V6 from a Nissan Maxima...Basically a remodelled version of the engine from a z32!

Cheerz,

Jez

Yeah built by a race team. Bored out by 200cc and gas flowed, reworked etc.

This guy still has stock internals appearantly
