Front speaker wiring question.

When I had the door cards off last, I noticed that one speaker (near side) was an after market speaker in a speaker adaptor and the other side still had the large plastic BOSE casing with little speaker and multi-pin connector.

I've just ordered new speaker adaptors to upgrade to 6.5", replacing the nearside is fine as simply, there are two wires plugged into the current speaker that's there, but what wires do I need to split from the BOSE item on the drivers side? I'd have to crimp spade clips onto 2 of the existing wires, but unsure if just doing this will be fine...what colour wires do I need?

Also, if I'm disabling that speaker which I guess has the little amp in it, do I need to do any rewiring or is it simply a case of unplugging the connector, splitting 2 wires from it and crimping spade clips to the wires?

Cheers in advance.

C'mon, someone on here must know. I can't believe everyone's riding round with their original crappy BOSE speaker system still in situ.

 Poor bugger. Sometimes there are floods of replies on what you'd think would be quite advanced subjects, yet simplier stuff like this...ie, replacing standard speakers...which loads of people have done...gets no response! LOL

:D at least i replied (in a fashion)

If you have the bose system, if i remember correctly they have built in amplifiers so you will have to basically completly rewire your new speakers in from the headunit. Been a long time since i did one but i`m sure thats was the quickest way i found cos behind the headunit it`s all black wires!!

I don't actually have a BOSE H/U I have a JVC one. The speaker works, but just crackles badly under load. I guess theres far too much power going to it compared to the original H/U.

With that in mind, it seems that all I need to do is to just find the speaker wires and remove the amp wires?

Right, to save you time running a pair of new speaker wires in (But TBH that is the best bet!!) use the Brown/Red and White/Red wires that you already have (see diagram).

Assumeing you have those colours that is, if not then it would be wiser to run in a new pair, it's not all that difficult.

Cheers Dave. So just find the black/red and white/red wires and those are the speaker wires? :)
