I am absolutely ****ed off with the so called national news being about ****ing london!!!! I couldn't give a **** about the overcrouded shit hole! I've spent the last 3 days taking my mum backwards and forwards to liverpool and manchester airport trying to get a flight to geneva, only to be told the flights have been cancelled due to the fog. Tonight we get told of how (****ing shit hole) heathrow has had to cancel flights - is that the only ****ing airport in the country??? Hello?!?!?! There are other places in the UK that have been majorly affected by the fog but its only heathrow that matters???????? My mums flights were cancelled way way way before heathrow even saw a ****in cloud but that managed to slip by... After getting up at 3am every morning to try for another flight and getting told every time to go home and book another flight, then to be told on the news that ****ing heathrow are having problems..... I'm ****in fumin right now!!!

Are the cancelled in Manchester and Liverpool then?

I've only seen anything about the main airport in London

:duffer:

i know exactly what you mean bud. i hate london too. when i worked up thre i couldnt wait to come home in the evenings.

yup does seem that London is always the topic of the news maybe because its our Capital, i get sick of hearing about the place too and i bloody live here

The local news really pisses me off too. Accordin to south today it news when some kid has to go to a different school to the one his parents want him to. HOW THE **** IS THAT NEWS AND WHY SHOULD ANYONE EXCEPT HIS PARENTS GIVE A SH!T?!?!?!

south today always sucks.... they always come up with things that are not 'news' worthy

I don't have anything against London, its the blind ignorance to the rest of the country that pisses me off! Just because the weather presenter is in London we get told of how wonderfull/bad the weather has been - when in actual fact its a different story for the rest of the country. We had the fog up here a long time before ****ing heathow yet we keep getting told of how badly heathrow has been affected.... Well wake up britain! Maybe only London should pay taxes since thats the only place that exists/affects the country?!?!?!

Move to Ipswich, we are always in the news just lately

Yeah maybe, but its minus 5 there   ;)

mind you the main news (ITN etc) is just as bad. It really gets my goat when they start reporting "groundbreaking news" that some country that nobody's ever heard of let alone gives a toss about has suffered a major daffodil famine*. Thing's that happen abroad that MAY have an impact on our lives I can understand, but totally unrelated, pointless drivel IS NOT NEWS.

*this may or may not be a real news story, but you get the idea.

Daffodil famine is a major problem!!! I can't belive you make such fun of the matter

Anyway, emailed the bbc to tell them my views, will post the reply (if I get one, maybe I should have registered an email of ******@london.co.uk if I actually wanted a responce....)

i heard on regional london news that 20% of londeners taxes are distributed around each and every city across britain.

But I can imagine how frustrating it can be always hearing about issues that do not concern you! :headvswal don't they do regular updates on teletext or the internet?

LMFAO  20%? Thats why most of the roads around here are in desperate need of repair then? Don't beleive everything you hear! There is only one place that exists in this country and that is....... LONDON.... I couldn't give a flying **** about the shit hole tbh....

so you aint coming down then

And it's just as well Ipswich Town play football and not rugby.......

.......they're running out of hookers there

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I live just down the road from our fair capital and avoid it like the plague.

Makes me feel dirty just entering the place (oo-er)

Nowt masively against it, just so over hyped and the majority of it is a shit hole (sorry to steal your phrase andy but its so apt)

Problem is there are too many news stations and too little news. If you live even remotely near London then you get the same news twice for 'local' and national news ... very tedious.

Still, if you compare what the US news is like ours is brilliant. To them international news is what happened in the next state.

I always think London's a great place to leave. Not really a great deal against the place except that whenever I have to drive there I wind up wanting to beat somebody to death with an iron bar after about 10 minutes, and although I have a slightly sparky temperament I'm generally pretty mild mannered so that's well out of character.

But yeah, there's too much news coverage and not enough news to fill it. CNN, Sky News, BBC News 24 and all these other news channels have a lot to answer for in my opinion. In any case much of what you hear from day to day, even on something like the 10 o'clock news is not factual reporting, but commentary on events and even outright speculation, and the thing with that is that most of it is rubbish, because to get a true picture of what's going on you generally need to let events unfold a bit, which is why news weeklies like Time and The Economist (bleuch! I hate that magazine with a passion) can often give you a better overall picture than the daily news.

You have to wonder when you hear on the morning news that Sir Ian Blair has said there's a very significant danger of a completely non-specific terrorist attack with no specific intelligence this side of Christmas (if you listen to the original interview this really isn't what he says at all, that's just the way it was reported), which if I was feeling particularly cynical I might translate as, "Be scared, be quiet, and stay at home because that way you're easier to keep under control." On the other hand, it could just be a slow news day, eh? ;)

Cheers,

Bart
