I have bought and broke perfectly good zeds because they are worth more in parts than they are whole. This lat month we have broken 4 zed that didnt really have a great deal wrong with them. The scrap man comes once a week roughly and takes our shells and crap and everytime a shell goes i wonder how long it will be before there is not alot left :(

Seems to be. The numbers of good original examples is dwindling. One day they'll go back up in value....one would hope. Doubt I'll keep mine long enough for it to go back up in value.

That's the problem by the time they go back up in value for original examples mine won't be original :(

No, but I'm sure it won't be some horrific colour scheme with nasty bumpers/lights and full of filler, mesh, rust. etc etc?

Cars with mods that improve the mechanics and make them more reliable and more powerful will never really affect the price drop.

That's true it will be close to original and kept in mint condition by the time i'm finished with it :)

Sounds like as I suggested, an original tidy example. Like I said in another thread Nick, sounds like you've got some very nice plans for it. :)

Thanks matey, i know i'm never going to win best exterior against competition like Jason Farrow and Luke but interiorwise i have some ideas that should be complete for JAE that'll make the car stand out and hopefully win me best interior *FINGERS CROSSED*

The word BESPOKE is key here :D

My bank account will be empty by september lol

Best exterior isn't always about show type cars. Best exteriors in my eyes are very good paint and nice lines. Prefer to see them with a lovely coat of well kept paint in a well kept unmolestered condition similar to that which Nissan turned them out of the factory.

These cars almost have a 'modern classic' status for that reason. The reason I like them so much is because of their looks and for that reason, I'm not going to go fitting huge bumpers/spoilers/graphics/changing this that and the other. Wouldn't have bought it otherwise if I wanted to change every other panel on the car.

I agree, i voted for peach's car as best zed last year at JAE. Absolutely mint and amazingly well looked after.

I would have killed for that car but i knew i wouldn't have been able to keep it looking like that as a daily drive

Interior is where i spend all my day so i want something beautiful to look at, makes the car seem like it's worth a few hundred thou and has that WOW factor i crave rather than shoddy worn out sack material door cards and sun bleached plastics.

There will be no plastic whatsoever in the interior apart from the speedo and that's going stealth so you can't see it unless the car's switched on and the rest is hush hush :)

Think along these lines...

Well said I totally agree

I'd say keep breaking them, the more you break the less will be out there, then harder to find, and then the prices will go up :D

So while you're breaking them, we win by haveing good cheap parts, then when there arnt many around we win again by haveing better prices!!

It's a WIN WIN situation as I see it!!

dont break anymore then

Don't junk the shorty shell's! They're going to make the most money in the long run.

I se a shortage of plenums coming soon due to everyone bloody polishing their spares!

We actually need a concerted campaign to let the rest of the car buying world know just what they are missing. We drive one of the top 25 best looking cars ever (from a recent poll), the Z globally is amongst the top selling 'sports' cars (in all guises) of all time, the engineering in the Z32 ought to be revered (especially the engine) and yet they are at give-away prices.

What we need to do is raise awareness - write to every car mag - write to everyone...

Tell people, tell then three times then tell them again whilst hitting them with a length of 3 x 3. And after a few years someone (a hack) will get the message and prices will start to rise.

To kick off the campaign, I recommend that we advertise our cars on this forum at double the current market value. I'll start - 97 na midnight purple, 70k miles, daily driver £12k.

And then we need a dedicated press area showing good cars and with good copy - so that the hacks can at least get the story right.

Off the soapbox now.

Good idea, but you forgot 2 words NISSAN or JAPANESE Im not ashamed of the name or the oragin as these are well engineered cars. But its those word that lets the car down in the value stakes. IMO :)

Thats not the case when you consider the Nissan Skyline GTR fetches a LOT more, as do the other big Jap names - Supra, Rx7 ...etc

yeah but those models are still in production :)

even the skyline market is in free fall, you can get a decent R33 gtr for under £10k now and a R32 for under £6k!! you go back 18 months and 32's got £10+ and 33's never sold for under £15k so its hitting all markets, the supra TT can now be had for £6k and under for a basic model so as all these cars tend to be newer than ours then i dont think were doing too bad.

You are right - but and it's a big but - the scare about the name etc was initially coined when the car was first launched in direct competition with Porsche. All these years later, and with the benefit of hindsight, it's about time that the crap about the badge is buried once and for all. Question, does the 350Z suffer in the same way? I think not, I think that Nissan's marketing machine have seen to that...

I personally will not buy a Porsche as A, I'm too working class, and B, I can't afford one. I also like the fact that I'm driving a car as good as any of the 'other' exotics and I only paid £xk for it and too boot, it's Japanese so it's reliable (NA). So I actually bought into the bad badge idea as it means I get a great car at a cheap price.

Watch out for expensive newsp[apers like the Sunday Times. There are car ads in there at greatly inflated prices. I'm sure they get put in to keep the perceived market value high - they've never any intention of selling the car they are just keeping the value of their 'investment'

I've been watching a car ad for 18 months now, a Pantera GTS? - it's been around the £50k mark all of that time. If it is for sale it would have slowly reduced in price till it found its correct level....

Get my drift? We should do the same. We have the technology...

yeah i do agree, i think the zed is far more worthy of a higher price tag than it has. I bought a zed for what it is because i liked the car reguardless of who its made by. The Times is read by greedy city snobs who think their shit dont stink and money is their god, and as you say to keep their investments high. Why dont you try an experiment and putting an add in the Times with an over inflated price tag on your car

yeah but those models are still in production :)

nope, none are them are in production...except the new GTR which I dont think it out yet

what i mean is newer models where as the 300zx has long since gone from production

Sort of....Zed ran till 2000 ! ....I think the supra, skyline and RX7 ran till 2002

but yeh, every few years they replaced them with newer versions...whereas Nissan kept its No.1 Sports car the same through the years with just very mild changes.

But the 300zx hasnt been produced over here since the mid 90's and the law now wont allow newer models over. Where as newer skylines, rx's and supra's are still about, most zeds you see are either G, H, J, reg's sometimes K or L reg's skylines, rx's supra's you see a lot later

Skyline was never sold in the UKDM, so doesn't have the same depreciation rate. The Z was available over here. The Skyline is easier to tune as well.

Didn't they bring in a few R33GTRs for a short time?
