Right, I have decided to spend a bit of cash on my car (a 90 NA) but don't want to go too mad. I have already re-trimmed the interior, fitted an Apexi filter, Grounding Kit, Smithys Bling plenum cover and replaced my vacuum hoses.

I intend to replace the complete exhaust system, including NA headers and de-cat. I also intend to get rid of the jap clocks and get some UK ones in there (autobahns and speed limiters do not mix). I've got a rust spot on the rear hatch, so will speak to my local paint shop who I have heard good things about, to fix. I will also speak to DTA Holland about a good service (oooeeerrr).

I have thought about the lightened pulleys, but am not too sure exactly what benefits I will receive from going this route (any advice welcome). I'm not after massive power gains or huge bLiNg factor, but want to do the common sense things. Suggestions?

The standard pullys are heavy theys are not as the name suggests, something to do with the mid range torque i think standard ones sap the power because the engine works harder to turn them...

some one else will be able to explain a bit better than me, but thats basicly it.

ECU remap.

Underdrive pulley(s).

Who, what, where & why? I'm a bit of a doer and not knower. Though it was about time I learned why I do things.

I asked pretty much the same question a while ago. It's all about how much work the engine has to do turning itself before it gets to think about moving the car. Same sort of benefit as a lightened flywheel. If the engine loses less power through moving its own bits and pieces, it can put that saved effort into giving you more of a push in the back :-)

Think about upgrading the brakes.

You can either go for the skyline R33/34 brembo callipers if you can get them or I have just noticed Smithy is trying to get together a group buy type thing for brake upgrades.

Am hopefully doing mine tomorrow so will let you know how esy it is to do.

The ECU remap alters the ignition timing and rev limit I think and is an easy way to gain power. I'm pretty sure one of our traders can re-map your ecu pretty easily.

The underdrive pulley turns the ancilliaries slower thus reducing drag on the engine and releasing more power.

I'm certainly no expert and haven't done either of these to my NA.

SlickPete, SuffolkZX and JimJitsu have the most tuned NAs on the forum that I know of.

Plus there's the NA tuning forum to check too.
