DO NOT MIX!!!!

Please please please be extra carefull out there folks. If its not icey then the wet salt is almost as bad with the wide tyres we have on these cars. I don't want to see any more 'I crashed my Z' posts on here sorry! Sorry to the guys who've already suffered losses but I'm worried its only a matter of time before we lose another member rather than just another Z.... Fat, wide, low profile tyres are not suitable for the road conditions we have at the moment!!!

Cheers,

Andy

Here here Andy, totally agree. Not had any ice over here yet, but once it arrives, my 300 will remain in the garage, and I've had skid car training!

Lets all look forward to the spring time before thrashing our cars. Be safe

got to agree 110% andy. if any one wants to see what a bit of ice can do see here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=85010 we're so, so lucky to be here

OMFG!!! Hope everyone is ok..... Must have missed this.... Totally gutted for you... :( Also folks let it be a lesson that if you have any passengers or loved ones in the Z don't even attempt to do any banzai overtaking or advanced manouvers.... (Not saying that you we're!) Just be safe, drive normally and if you've gotta overtake do it at half throttle and not foot to the floor cause if the backend goes and you're not quick you'll be in the sh1t....

get drifting :)

but seiously be careful as andy has said

No Sh1t Andy!

I was only going about 25 mph, wasn't pushing it, it wasn't even that cold yesterday. Just a little greasy.

Then before I know it I'm sat on the pavement on the opposite side of the road! lucky nothing was coming the other way...

 Yep be carefull and safe everyone.

If you haven't already then get upgrades HID's lights.

I nearly lost it on a dark country road on saturday night lucky for me I had already reduced my speed to well under the speed limit to the impatience of some twat behind me. When due to the Zeds poor head lights and the dark road I couldn't see where the road was going or where the road edge was. I only just managed to get it round a sharpe dark left bend  Lucky for me it wasn't icey or slippy with mud as it was further along.

Watch out for ice and mud guys

If your zed is recently imported and is still on the tyres it came with from japan...change them ! They are not suitable for Uk roads espcially in the wet and dont meet EU regulations.

:wack: Mine still aint even on the road for it to mix with the cold/wet weather! Thought it might be later on today!

Another thing I would like to add is that we Zed owners should really have two set of tyres, one for summer driving and a winter set. This way we can all be safer in our cars! I dont wanna seeeeeeee any more crashed Zeds this year!

I have to drive to gloucester and back tomorrow in the zed so i'm hoping it dries out a bit by them.

Keep your tyres pumped up to the right spec and stop overtaking stuff. I'm taking it steady after the two horror stories this week already could be more

Mine needed work doing that I can't afford right now so I've taken it off the road for a few months (yet again).

My traction control hasn't worked since it was at Grasshopper and without it on 285 tyres and big power it's just plain scary on greasy, salt covered wet roads.

If it snows the tyres turn into something like a sledge at each corner with ABS just to ensure it has no chance of stopping!

It's a nightmare at this time of year, especially for those who have just bought their first powerful RWD car and every winter on here there's a couple of newbies write off their cars.

Take care and save the power for spring! :)

i have noticed afew people mention traction control on zeds, i'd like to know were and how much it costs because i'm seriously considering getting it for my zed, reason being i've just bought a m plate lexus ls 400 it has traction control and its awesome, turn the TC off and its a nightmare especially in the wet.

i'm not saying TC will stop you smashing your car because a car can only be pushed so far before the law of physics kicks in and you'll smash up, but its does make driving alot safer even under normal..ish road condtions...

eg:i would let my wife drive the lexus in the wet with traction control but i wouldnt let her drive it if it didnt have it.

speak to steve (cybernet) whos a trader on here, he is the supplier of RaceLogic TC systems :)

Won't drive my Z on the roads at this time of the year. Pure and simple.

That's because FunkyScrooge hides in the house over the Christmas period

Traction control will only stop rear wheel spins. However when on ice, a rear wheel spin will cause the back end to fly out.

I have hit ice in my Z with the Traction Control on. I was doing about 35-40 in 5th on a national speed limit road. Turning a slight corner and I just noticed the ice as I was about to drive over it. Looked like a drain had over flowed and turned into a small ice rink. Even before I could think about reacting to it, the engine popped about 6-7 times, as one of the rear wheels spin on the ice.

Cant say whether it stopped a crash but it really showed me that the Traction Control can really react a lot quicker than you ever can.

No sh1t Sherlock. Have you checked to see it you still have traction control.

Seriously though Chris I've seen you drive and you need Traction control

Well any kind of control would help

That's cause christmas is shit. But I won't drive it now until April.

You could have at least spelt it correctly. What you've written looks like a disease.....it's Ebenezer... ;)

or fit RLTC! its the nuts in this weather!! :D

Just got mine fitted by Cybernet (thanks Steve ! ) - it deffo helps !

Please, please forgive me. It's not a name I come across very often you old misery. Oh and guess what I just happened to forget to take my Thesaurus of names and their origins out with me today. I know that was remiss of me MR Scrouge, but perhaps spelling your name like a disease was more whishful thinking, because your uncharitable demeanour with regaurd to Christmas is as sour as the taste of Beubonic Plage.

Merry Christmas and may your balls go square and fester at the corners.
