Proberly drowned your induction filter Bud.Is it aftermarket or stock ? You could also unplug your M.A.F.Sensor and see if it will fire up.Dont think you have fooked your engine.

warning to anyone who hasnt got the under tray and the small plastic weather strip in the nose cone fitted. GET THEM FITTED! it could help save a lot of problems

It not the stock air filter , I got an after market cone style

Is the engine actually locked up? Have you tried turning the crank by hand? 27mm socket on the bottom pulley bolt and see if it will move...

that's the problem - very poor protection from water! see Andy's post above and see if it'll turn by hand - easier to give advice then!

Some of us cant fit it because of front bumpers and other mods under there.

They are crap, and get ripped off anyway

agreed... mine had more ducktape on it than a Saxo...

but i think my car is paying the price thanks to all the rain and flooded roads here... stoopid thing was vibrating really badly last week and sounded like a scoobie and lost a shed load of power whilst doing all that.... !

Thats the problem when we start modding the cars we have to sacrifice something. The undertray is there for better air flow under the front, its there for a reason

Just been told by the insurance that its going to cost 5.5k to get fixed !!! Yeah right dont think they go for that but still waiting for the loss adjusters call but i think he's going to say its a write off ? . I really cant get over how easy that can happen . I really wish i kept the Esprit now as the Aid intake is in the rear right wing so it wouldnt have happened !!! GUTTED Not been my year at all.

If its classed a write off i'll buy it back and get a second hand engine got a few leads ready ... Cheers

REMEMBER DONT GO THROUGH WATER LIKE ME GUYS !!! If in doubt go around another way ! Its far too easy in the Z'ds

HAVE YOU CHECKED IT YOURSELF LIKE ANDY SAID? DOES THE ENGINE MOVE!

I'd was towed away by the garage and i didnt have a chance to check ... To be honest i wouldnt know what to turn !!! but i could see that when trying to turn the key it was doing nothing then 1 in a hundred it'll to go that a thud and clunk which you could feel throught the car and cut out does that sound like a f***ed engine ?

THANKS TO ALL THE ADVICE !

sounds hydrolocked, as above remove the plugs and turn over the engine by hand via the crank pulley, not sounding good though, bent rod me thinks

£5500????? What planet are they on?!?!?!?!

£5500????? What planet are they on?!?!?!?!

i'll second that.... :wack:

christ that quote is mad...i mean you can buy another zed t&t for @£3k....less on fleabay etc

its gotta be worth taking the wet filter off sticking on another then disconnecting the maf....the PTU might be full of water as well or the starter motor is rusted up...for ideas on what else try and give Topless a call

HTH

wouldnt the insurance company be quoting for a new replacement engine?

i know my friends zafira had the same problem and the engine was replaced for a brand new unit.

I know thats what i thought ... Will let you know what happens but its crazy to think how easy it is to bugger the engine up ...... , Would it have happened with the stock air filter one rather than my cone ?

Yes its a new replacment engine so still waiting for the outcome ? , But i think they'll write it off ?

I'd think so. That would be about the correct price for a brand new engine fitted by a dealer.
