I'm changing my company car next year and I'm looking at estate cars

Does anyone have any experience of the following:

Mazda6 Estate 2.0D TS2

Toyota Avensis Estate T4

Audi A4 Avant Estate

I'd prefer to keep it Jap if possible, but I'm open to ideas. The money comes out of my pocket at the end of the day, so budget is also quite important ;)

Any advice gratefully received

I know i'm on here as a 300 freak but it has to be said that Audi engineering is second to very few! I had an 86 coupe as a daily runner for 3 years before i bought my Z and it never let me down once and i reluctantly sold it one here a couple of weeks back.

If the Avant comes with the 1.9 or 2.0 TDI 130bhp option then i can also vouch for this power unit thats in my Golf. It's an absolute beauty and as well as being reliable, torquey and nippy when needed, it cruises nicely at higher speeds with wonderfully low revs when coupled with the six speed gearbox option! I nearly opted for a S/H one of these when i bought my Golf, but as they hold the money too well i could'nt get a six speed 130 TDI in the same price bracket so opted for the Golf which ticked all the boxes bar space. I surf occasionally and the built in silver roof bars on the Gunmetal Avants are a nice added touch!

If you look up info about the RS4 avant i'm sure you'll be hooked on the look that can be achived as well if you fancy tweaking a standard car a bit!!....Well worth the extra pennies in my opion and has better residual value than the other jap options you listed.

ive always liked mitsubishi gallant estates

They don't seem to produce them in the UK anymore. Same has happened to the Primera :(

The mazda has a ford engine, so you could get a top spec mondeo insted.

I've not really looked at the Mondeo. Seems to have some good reviews though...

Not too worried about the residuals, although I guess this must be reflected in the contract hire figure. The Audi looks like a good option and I'll probably go down to my local dealer and take a closer look

kinda goes against you wishes but.... cant go wrong with an audi :)

As a company car, I'd pick the Audi - go for the TDi. It has the lowest emissions of those you mention and VAG diesels are way better than Jap diesels. The 2.0 TDi is now 140bhp and they are pretty quick considering........

Lower emissions mean lower company car tax. My company car allocation is the Audi A4 TDi SE tiptronic but I chose the cash allowance instead.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

'Estate Cars - advice needed'

Buy mine or go down your local dealer and pay 2 and a half grand more! lol

what did you get with the cash allowance? some stuff for the zed ;)

Don't touch the Mazda or the Alfa as they have many inherant problems though the Duratec engine in the Mazda is the same as the Mondeo (Same floor pan and monocock) which is a far superior car.

Audi VW build quality speeks for its self though not very interesting the madel you've mentioned.

I always advocate the merrits of the V70 T5 Volvos and especialy the T5R AWD. Good handling, build quality, fuel consumpsion, bags of space and 240bhp to 300bhp, but most importantly robust unchallenged reliability

Scorpio estate, ugly as fook but electric rear seats, electric heated fronts, dual climate control etc for £1500 quid it's a bit of a bargain. I shall be buying one very soon for my everyday commute

Yeah, the fuel!!! :wack:

Although since moving house I only drive 24 miles a day round trip.

I get £550 per month in lieu of a company car as I didn't want an Audi diesel and have to pay the company car tax for the privilege. I just keep the cash........

...... and I bought myself a v-reg Merc SLK as a daily driver.
