Clarkey:

The Japanese are obsessed with schoolgirls knickers and pinching each others arses on the subway.

I think this is reason enough not to trust their judgement in tyre-rubber.

Jap tyres are illegal in this country. They will void your insurance, and you SHOULDN'T pass your MOT. Plus you could get a £400 fine per tyre that is illegal.

Im pretty sure the extra 10mm aint transform the car lol. The car will be on 18's within the next few weeks hopefully so im sure the tyres will be adequatly destroyed before removal biggrin.gif

jesus. im wondering now if actually asked for opinions on jap 215's now instead of what pressure I should put in. Anybody got a constructive answer?

what is the stock pressure? thats what im trying to get at lol biggrin.gif

I thought you were the the font of all this type of knowledge !!!! Front 33psi, rear 36.

Okey-dokey m8y. First the bad news. If you have 215/55s (carefully not asking why), the official tyre pressures for the "official" 225/50s may not help.

OTH, the little sticker in the door shut of my 1990 Japanese import says:

225/50R16 92V 2.3 kg/cm2 2.5 kg/cm2

(I assume this is front, rear but then I can't read J so you're guess as good as mine)

This is 33psi , 36psi

There is also

T125/90D16 4.2 4.2

which means I assume to put 60psi in the temporary.

thanks AndyP, I am now tongue.gif. Gio thats exactly what im reading in the silver stivker inside the drivers door. But it makes no sense to me. I thought 2.5bar seemed a little high. Also the guage on my lil mini compressor has a really bad scale for kg/cm2 the psi scale is much more accurate. Ill put that pressure in em. Atm front & back are both down about 10psi. Im guessing this would have a dramatic effect on handling/back ends tendancy to step out ever-so easy.

10psi? You'll be lucky if the tyres stay on the rims at that pressure

I notice a big drop in handling if one tyre goes down to about 25psi

I think that he meant down by 10psi, not to...or at least I hope that's what he meant...

Yeah, I think he'd have noticed the wheel rims scraping the ground if it was at 10psi

That strange grinding noise as the allys became less and less... biggrin.gif

Followed a learner once and noticed that she had got a flat tyre, so I flashed my lights. The instructor obviously thought that I was just being an impatient twazzock so waved at me. So I flashed my lights again. He waved again. I flashed and indicated for him to pull over. He (probably) assumed that I just wanted to overtake on the narrow, twisty Bromham roads... biggrin.gif so just carried on.

Eventually after much flashing later, I finally got him to pull over, he threw open the passenger door, flung himself out of the car and before he could manoeuvre his bull-like shoulders into my direction anymore, I pointed to the offside front and told him about the flat. Mwahahahaha. Took the wind out of his sails. smile.gif

Poor learner looked absolutely petrified, though.
