come on when you turn the screen demister on . its bloody annoying as it reduces power. when you switch it back onto normal heater the screen starts to mist up again.!!!

is there a way of stopping the demister from using the aircon pump (eg by pressing a curtain sequence of buttons ect on the pod) i know you can diagnose it from there i was wondering if you can alter settings too.

anybody else find this annoying and how did you solve it

removing the aircon is NOT an option i will consider.

thanks :)

there is no way. There is also a very good reason for this. The a/c rapidly condenses the water vapour, hence why the screen will clear in about 5 seconds flat.

humm damn. its annoying as i have to cycle between the heater and demister. having the demister on all the time is chewing fuel due the the aircon pump being on lol.

oh well worth a shot

lets be honest here your wallet is being hit hard allready, the a/c is hardly going to make a noticable difference ;)

i have removed my air con and when i use the demister it still only take afew seconds to clear the windsreen

Can't you just switch to "economy" with the demister?

I have never tried that as I leave the a/c on permanently anyway. Also I thought the a/c temporarily switches itself off when you floor the accelerator....?

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

nope :) tried that already it wont come on to economy

So how much more fuel does it take, it can't be much, I mean we are running 280 brake it can't be too much of a drag,

Now if it was a festa you were driving then thats a different matter.

I can have it demist in ECON mode.

It blows throught the windscreen and feet vents at the same time. Try cleaning the inside of your windscreen as dirty windows mist up quicker!

Fella it makes hardly any difference and if it does we're talking pence

its more the power drain i worry about the car is noticably slower when its on.

if your screen is misted gaz then i assume the weather is miserable, cold and damp and more importantly your car is not warmed up... if so, why are you concerned about power at this point? :p

tell me your not one of these start it and floor it type chaps :slap:

i suppose its a good job you dont own a bugatti veyron, wanting to use 1000bhp first thing in the morning on the way to work hehe!!

If you had enough money for a Veyron, you could prob afford to rag it and blow it up, then buy another!

Gaz,

How often during the year do you run your aircon i.e.

10 mins every week,

20 mins monthly,

Only when you need it,

The air con system is self lubricating. If you feel you using more fuel or it's draining power there could be a problem with the air con pump.

Get it checked by an air con specialist.

Keith

it does happen , air con pump on my rover ti went ,, i didnt have a clue excpet i noticed when i switched it on , revs would drop and wouldnt go back up , i thought it was faulty switch or a sensor , turned out internals of pump were knacered and causing it to put a lot of drag on belt , always wondered why it screamed when i put aircon on ,

How many times do you go racing (when you need all the power) with a misted up screen?

Another suggestion......

Rain-X (those chaps that make the rain repellant that actually works...... :p ) do another product called "anti fog" for the inside of your screen.

Does exactly what it says on the tin

Far better than removing air con or the windscreen!
