Just thought I'd pop in as I just got my new Zed and aska quick question :)

My plan is to use the GT28RS turbo's for my build for obvious reasons of power ability and lower than stock spool time, also they are more than adequate to hold boost right to the redline without any real drop off.

Now obviously there are a variety of supporting modifications within my plans too however looking through the site I have notice the TD05's are quite a favourite and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a running comparrison of the two charger.

Many thanks xx

hi ,

i'm not sure anyone in the uk is running gt28rs turbos although it is certainly something that would be interesting.

i think nend has run both 16g and gt28rs setup's so he is probbaly your best bet - he might even be able so sell you the turbos and manifolds

regards,

Thanks for the reply and WOW thats a big sig lol

Parts aren't to much worry and manifolds I can weld up happily, just need a little vehicle specific knowledge.

Cars are cars but specific vehicles perform better with certain parts more so than other engines would so need alittle insider info ;)

16g's do seem to be the favourite on here though I would've thought them to be little laggy?

very little comparsion because 16gs were always sold as a kit with tubular manifolds which always helped the spool up

if you look at macs video of his 18g's there doesnt seem to be much lag and we are not talking silly big turbos in the grand scheme of things . Anyway i dont think a v6 twin will ever suffer serious lag.

my humble opinion is that the gt28rs would be a great turbo on tubular manifolds - if they had come out before i bought my 16g's i would have gone down that route.

in the real world would you notice the difference ?

Regards,

I put a disco potato on an s13 for a guy and it did lose some off the line performance but the mid range was fantastic.

Really?? I'm shocked.

I've fitted a few and never had that experience??

With an s13 at stage 2 (which really isn't as amazing as it sounds) the GT28RS was making 1.4bar at just over 3k as appose to the stock turbo's performance of 1bar. The acceleration and sheer drive of the engine was amazing, maybe your girls setup wasn't right or the engine wasn't in top condition.

Thanks for the link Cj :)

I'm not looking for silly figures out of the Zed 500hp should suffice initially. Lag is a major concern obviously but nitrous can sort that I want to keep the extremes though of a fast spool with the turbo being large enough to carry the charge right to the line without drop off.

working on it ;)

the gt28rs will not spool up faster than stock!!

there much bigger than stock turbos and yes for the size they are not too laggy but trust me they will be more laggy than a stock setup ;)

as a few have said if you stick sus manifolds on there then it will help but still not as good as stock :)

great turbos, i was gonna get them

How does the GT28RS compare to the GT675RS?

i was thinking of going for the GT675RS with .86 A/R

but the GT28RS i've noticed would save me some pennies.

there basically the same turbo but the 675's have been modified to fit the oem manifold where as the standard garrett gt28rs wont fit onto a oem manifold.

as we have discussed paul, it all depends on where you want your power, if you want big midrange grunt and good top end then the bigger housing but if you want faster spoolup but wont make as much power then the smaller housing ;)
