Hi guys, my mate has recently purchased a Supra twin turbo jap import with the six speed manual box, for the six weeks it took to get here all he did was sound off about how much better it was than my Z, he reckons there faster, stronger and far superior to the Z. So imagine the surprise he got when he raced my Z down the local bypass and spent the whole time watching my Z pull away from him in every gear!!!

Although I beat him he still reckons the Supra is a superior car because the engine is a lot stronger as standard, surely the engine cant be that much stronger or are they?

So what do you guys reckon Supra or 300zx (I know the results wont be biased at all LOL)

Both cars are running full exhausts, induction kits and remapped ecu's with slight boost increases.

lets face it

the supra for pure tuneability but the zed for driveability and looks...the z is in a different class looks wise

you dont get many people double taking a supra..happens a lot in a z

Look at it this way, 300zx vs soopra, which is the sexiest and has the most road presents

hands down, no comp the 300zx obviously

who cares which is quicker ?

Soups are NOT quicker!!!!!!!!!! FFS get this shitty thought out of your minds! For the same boost the VG develops more power than the 2JE!!!! End of story....

Financially, had I had more funds when looking for a Z I would have searched for a Supra, or a Skyline, but that would have been based on reliability over that of a Z.

If I sold the Z, which I may do one day, I would possibly look for a Supra, but that depends when that time comes!

That's it, I just don't like the look of the Supra. Would go for the Skyline if I wanted a hardtop coupe straight 6. I love the burble of the VG and the whole way the Z looks.

Supra's got very strange looks. Whilst they can look mental with decent bodykits and large rims, they just have an odd shape and the front end really is ugly. Reminds me of a jelly bean.

Great cars though, I'd just not have one...which is why I drive a Z.

While the 300ZX is blessed with 'these front lights' :)

Although as standard, the headlights emit poor light, they are nice and sleak.

I think as standard they're ok not poor.

It's just so many have dirt on the inside of the glass.

Mine are very clean. But dipped beam isn't good. Main beam however, is pretty decent really.

Dip beam on mine was ok - not good.

Now I've got HIDs it's much better though.

God....I hate it when this topic comes up, I personally have respect and admiration for both (Have to, my dearest brother owns A supra) Performance wise, in stock or BPU form they are almost on par side by side. Though (in the wet especially) I would say that due to the Supra running sequential Turbo's the Z would have the edge on pull off, as the supra really will struggle to get traction.

However there is no doubt in my mind that watching my brother now take his from TT and putting a large single Turbo on the Supra there is far less work involved on taking a Supra into serious Big BHP, firstly its the more simple straight six engine, the stock block is also quite capable of handling big power and some guys are quite happy to run big power on standard internals such is their confidence.

To take a ZX engine to a similar say 500-600BHP, ask those that have done it on the Z to tell you how much they spent ££££'s (and then some) in comparison to a Supra owner. And if you are lucky enough to make such power in the Z you are certainly gonna have to consider getting something sorted for the gearbox, whereas the Supra's stock gearbox will consistantly take the power day in day out...

Handling, again depends on the set-up, but in stock form I'd say the Z, but thats debateable and depends on which you like the feel of.

Looks---ZX for me :) , But saying all this no matter what, I would choose the ZX EVERYTIME!!!! :)

Its more sleek and not as in your face as the Supra.

Spot on....although the Zed gearbox is just as stong as the Supra gearbox, if were talking about the Manual gearbox.

Unfortunately, there's a distinct lack of big power Zs over here. There are more big power GTOs than Zs....as much as it pains me to say it, the Z would unfortunately come last.

Yes but that races were going to be the big powered ones against big power and then mid vs mid and stock against stock.

I really think this debate should be settled, plus i think it would make for a really good meet too :) would be loads turn out to see that one i would think.

Try and find enough people with big power Zs that actually want to race......

Thanks for all the feedback I agree the Z looks better and has a hell of a lot more road presence and on what I have seen from my mates supra against my Z with similar mods(exhaust, induction and chips) the Z is a more powerful car (only just!!!)

Although my mate and I have come to an agreement, both our cars are f##king awesome!!! they both look good go like stink and stick to the road superbly ( I love coilovers).

and not one of the locals with an evo, scooby, or anything bother trying any more!!!!!
