Info needed & suggestions welcome -

This BREATHER KIT !!!, from looking at said item & asking a few of for your comments.

It appears to be, one 1 way valve (operating under 0.3 psi), & 1 angled gause oil catch filter in two plastic surrounds. And a pipe or two, of 8mm ish i/d.

I've also waited a week or SO! for it to arrive as most. But it recently accoured to me that the 'plasma' & oxy-acetaline systems i use every day, are spookily similar. But in brass not plastic.

Anything you can add to the requirements needed would be thanked wholesomely, before i fit my own kit in about a week.

Harve, have you got a picture of this plasma/oxy-acetaline system ?

When I first saw the kit and especially the MIO-filters, they reminded me of something, but couldn't remember what it was.

Oh...by te way..did I say the MIO-filters of the breatherkit are of incredible crappy quality ?...they leak and fall apart when you just look at it.

The thick hoses that come with the kit are worthless (too soft) and most clamps are of no use either.

...I guess it's just another wasted 100 squid..

I've got mine but I doubt I'm gonna bother even having it fitted!

This gp has been a disaster from start to finish (no offence to AndyP). I have had my de-cat pipes sitting at home for 6 months now doing f*** all waiting for this bloody breather kit which I'm now told is total piece of crap frown.gif and to top it off I STILL havent received it.

Can someone confirm please that if in 2010 when I get this kit it will help my turbo seals when I fit the de-cat pipes.

Yours annoyed

Martin,

If you like I will send mine down to you, then when you FINALLY get yours just send it up to me! I could do this over the weekend if you want?

I've only opened the outer shipping bag, the breather kit itself is still sealed.

Cheers Timmy, your a gent.

I'll take you up on that offer, but I would still like confirmation that if I do de-cat this kit will keep my turbo seals healthy as my car does smoke a little at the mo.

If the kit isnt going to work then I'd rather sell the pipes and keep as standard. I can't afford a big 600 squids (at the moment anyway with clutch, water leak etc)should it fail.

Can the guys who have fitted de-cats and kit confirm please.

Timmy see what happens here between now and tomorrow and i'll email you my address, is your profile email uptodate?

Cheers

OK matey, just drop me a mail if you want it.

No guarantees though if you de-cat that the seals won't go, even with the breather kit on. I think it was Latz who put an aftermarket zorst on and the seals went pop on the ramp!

i know its too late now as you all have said kits but if you have a look at the bailey oil/header catch tank for the cossie it does the same thing i'm sure one of you techies could make one of these fit and its an all polished ally finish and looks a lot better

Good point tooley! - I've had a breather kit since september last year and i'm not sure i'm even going to fit it to be honest.

Reason being, the engine is about to be reassembled after a rebore rebuild with new turbos etc (and I'm using gapless rings on the pistons) - so blow-by should be at a minimum.

PLUS...the breather can still get blocked, if there's loads of oil being pumped in there, so a catch tank is a good idea anyway!
