Hi guys,

Ok, I've just had to sell my 350Z :( (loads of Nismo gear on it...) to finance a house, and am looking at a 300ZX as a "replacement". :) I couldn't be seen driving something "normal" now, could I?!?

Need advice on this as due to the general age of the cars, if something is to go wrong it could cost me, big time.

I notice a lot for sale are Autos... Is the auto box any good? I'm a fan of manual transmissions to be honest and so would much prefer this, but if the auto is ok, i'll certainly consider it.

I'm also looking for one as close to standard as possible... Spent over £12k on mods to the 350Z and so really just not wanting the extra expense on running costs on this one... Lost SOOO much money when selling it (not that I expected it to be an investment) as it was only 18 months old and there is very little demand for them at that age for some reason...

I'm running to a slightly lower budget on this, absolute MAX is £5k, but would prefer to spend between £3 and 4k to be honest... It's just going to be a run around for a couple of years and so don't want to be spending loads of money again.

Any advice at all appreciated! :)

Cheers!

Hi there - welcome.

The autos fine - you should probably get an extra oil cooler if you get an import auto.

If you hunt hard you should find a nice one for £3K - for £5K you can get a really nice one.

yeah you can buy my zed for £3500...its a red auto 2+2...i recently bought another zed so its surplus MOT n Tax till next year...based in Lewes/Brighton....not sure whey you are?

Cheers

Where are you from G. It may help us help you.

I'm based in West London.

I suppose with all the London driving an Auto could come in useful! Would have to get to the gym more to make sure my left leg doesn't lose any size though ;)

Oh, and a UK model would be nice...

I think I need to start having a good scan around the place... Being honest, not too keen on red, but thanks mate :)

Oh - and a TT model would be nice. I don't think the NA version will be quick enough after the 350Z.

Been doing a bit of reading - am I right in thinking all UK cars are LWB?

Does this make a huge difference in performance/handling etc?

Any major differences between UK and JDM cars?

Rust vs Insurance cost

UK = Twin turbo, targa, LWB (2+2), leather.

Japanese can be NA or TT, slicktop or targe, cloth or leather, SWB or LWB or various combinations.

Insurance isn't always that different. And not all UK cars are ravaged by rust.

Also, convertible Z32s JDM only and all are N/A

Not all UK spec have Leather.

Are you sure?

I was 95% certain they did.

Some might have been changed but I thought when new they all had leather. I could be wrong though.

I thought it was just electric seats that some of them didn't come with.

i have a uk car with no leather and no elec seats. its reg'd 1992 j reg (manufactured in 1991 though)

expect to have your hand in your pocket to be honest, if your concerend about rust, reliability etc dont get 1 its not the car for you :)
