It seems that many of you guys seem so keen on a slicktop Zed.

Other than the fact they are quite rare is there any other reason?

The fact you can take the roof off was one of the main deciding factors for me to have a Zed over an RX7, Supra or GTO. I also had a T-bar MR2 tubs before so felt I could not let the "roof off" thing go.

So go on.....why???

Right lads here ye go

lightest is 1997 SWB slicktop manual N/A@ 1440KG

Heaviest is 1989 LWB TT T-Top Auto @1570KG

Extra weight comes mainly from the glass in the roof, auto adds ony 20KG.

With complements of the main dealer computer....now if I can just "borrow" that consult unit.....lol

I think you'll find the weight differences between the two examples is mostly down to the Extra size(length) of the LWB and the Turbos, Intercoolers and associated parts.

The Slicktop vs Targa is only a 30kg difference......however its worth noting that the published weight figure is for the slicktop is with its standard non-electric seats which must offer a good 10-20kg weight saving themselves, so the actual slicktop roof only offers a real weight saving of 10-20kg.

p.s Nissan consult is'nt up to scratch with the other options out there ;)

Damn!! I knew there was something I had forgotten.... :smash:

Here ya go then......

SLICKTOPS RULE........ and communism is the way to go :hyper:

 stop upsetting everyone you old fart

Thats not very original Greg is it??? :slap:

Been there... done that.. Got the Z Club Drag Challenge T shirt to prove it!!!

I fookin hate targas. They are such an appaling feature on a vehicle. Ugh

Just stand back a moment and look at them ...

Bit like rear seats really... Sillly idea.

Next thing some of you will try n say is that auto boxes are OK!! :mac1:

Yeh right!!

Did they make a Targa top 240Z in 2+2 form??? :nono:

Have you seen any 350Z targa top 2+2s??? :nono:

The Slicktop 300ZX is the only 300ZX... END OF.

easy! :smash: did i slag them off  lets see your t-shirt then, that was NA class correct :D

Hi (from the Z Club),

Recently bought another 2+2 NA Targa after a 5 year absence and would want any other model!...Love the targa tops!

Wasn't the NA 2 seater hardtop car just the poverty spec version of the 300ZX?...A bit like a 1.3 2 door Cortina, without a sunroof? ;)

Cheerz,

Jez.

Shame it cost me several hundred pounds to win the cheque tho!!!

stop upsetting everyone you old fart

I like upsetting people, its part of the fun of being on here!! :D :D :D

Seems I own the most expensive and unwanted version of a Zed, Targas, Auto, LWB and no turbos

forgive pete, he runs/ownes manages a pharmacist, i think he has breathed in all that tablet dust and turned burty before time

Targa top or slick top the main thing is its a 300zx and IMO the best all round coupe/sports car in whatever guise. Nissan have done something that I havent seen in any other car.........A model for every taste. Whatever model you own or whatever colour be proud. I am. :D :D

yep me too Vini.

HOWEVER ... I do like a little bit of "debate" now and then!! :D :D :D

The weight i have for a japenese domestic market 2 seater twin turbos is 1370 kg no mention of auto/or manual .Same sort of weight as a s13 200sx.

The published NA slicktop weight is 1430kg....the TT is 90kg heaver.

The Slicktop TT is actually heavier than a LWB NA.

An S13 200sx kerb weight is a lot lighter aof 1190kg - 1220kg

Most weights stated for the z32 seem to be us based cars 1370kg is the weight ive found for jdm slicktop tt.

LWB Targa is THE only 300 to own IMO

they look better than a SWB, look alot more classier, sleeker, just not kean on the whole slicktop thing

:)

Sorry, but there is no way in the world that figure is correct for a TT slicktop. NA's weigh 90kg less than TT's...that would put the JDM NA slicktop at 1280kg... no chance.

1280kg is the curb weight of a stock RX-7... Thats a lot less than any 300ZX. If weight is the deciding factor in any car purchase then all those with a *lighter than T-bar" slicktop have bought the wrong car :smash:

Yep, check out the Jtuner brunters thrash for a good example. The old grumpy fart is quicker off the line than half of the TTs! He's never seen faster than 130mph though so you gotta give him some slack :)

Whoever said there was any division in this club is obviously talking rubbish.

Lets see we have nissan forums. Nissan performance forums. Nissan Z forums. Nissan 300zx forums. Nissan 300zx z32 forums. And now it seems we need a nissan 300zx z32 slick top as well as targa forum.

bit of an over-reaction ? Pete did say he was just joking for a bit of debate.

well said that man, its a matter of choice, what ever model we own its down to personal choice and others should respect that.

I have a LWB T.Top TT and i love it infact its the 3rd 1 i've owned, i like the T.Top as it gives me the option, i can have the roof off if i please and have passengers if i please, although i will admit, i do think the car looks better with the roof on for the lines of the car, but at the same time its nice to be able to take the roof off :D

nah I'm also joking. I've only been here for about half a year so don't remember the glory days and therefore can't be upset about the clubs current state. I just wanted the key ring ;)
