but a beetle hasnt got the road presence a zed has unless your a hippie

It may do 13.8 but you will look like a twerp driving it round town....or a chav!!!!

Doesn't a Pork 911 engine virtually drop straight into a beetle?

Of course I don't mean the new 993/996 engines or even the 3.3 turbo, but certainly some of the older, smaller engines may. That would give the little bug a fair turn of speed......

......still wouldn't have one though. Not my kind of thing ;)

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

twerp, sheesh. and how would i look like a chav??? :mac1:

i love my bugs and i would be inclined to say that more "chavs" drive Z32s than bugs :x:

porka engines don't drop in as easily as people think, you have to mod the engine bay to accomodate them. plus, with being able to stick in 2.2litre engines modelled on the original bug engine you're better off with those :)

yeh but you're a woman and for some reason they think that makes you a better driver :D

It's because I'm over 30 have years of no claims no points as yet and cos I've been with the same insurance company for nearly 10years oh and I've proved as a woman driver I am a better driver :D

hehe well shaddup and stop pissing on my fire :D

as a 22 year old, i doubt anyone could insure an equally fast zed for less than the bug!

forgot to mention the particular bug im interested in ran a 13.8, hence the subject line!

Only problem is, to build a 1915cc VW aircooled motor to run that fast would cost much more than a nice Z32 example. Look after it well, and dont try keeping up with the 300s when they pass you at 150 plus MPH :nono: The 94mm bore makes the walls real thin, a lot of the race VW guys go 90.5 bore & stroke em to 78mm giving 2007cc

Whats been done to it apart from the 69mm stroke & 94mm bore??? Ive seen some real fast Bugs run at the Pod in the past, & I've also heard some some exaggerated 1/4 mile times. I did witness a high 13s run once with a 1600cc Beetle, but that had monster work done on it & run twin 48 IDAs, the car was a gutted out lightweight with scooter (Vespa type) front wheels.

Now a Z32 engine in that Beetle, mid mounted, would be fun, just don't let your insurance Co know :mac1:

13.8? thats slow  Beaten that by over a second  Get a Z :D
