its funny but since i resigned from my job of eleven years, ive 'upgraded' 10p coins from 'disposable' to 'important'. how about you lot. what is the lowest denomination of coin that you would keep in your wallet/purse (eg. youd hold on to 10p but throw away/give away/put in a jar in the attic a 5p)

whats the lowest denomination that you would consider important? 25 members have voted

All change under a quid goes in my mahoosive whiskey jar, then after about 6 months take the lot to asda and whack it in the coinstar machine. Gives about 7-8% to charity and a redeemable voucher for the rest. Doin my bit and gettin money for free really :D

purple every time who messes with anything lower lol

Hi Andy,

Gotta correct you there, the 7.9% percent fee goes to Coinstar, to cover the cost of machine, emptying it, having it instore and keeping it serviced by a good looking guy :) You can chose to donate your money to a chairty on the machine, then charge then is 7%, still one of the cheapest ways of getting the money to the charity.

I've thought a lot about this.

My mate always used to just throw his coppers out of a window and him mum would go and pick them up.

I guess it depends how much you value an hour of your time.

For me coppers go in a big pot. But I do wonder if I should just drop them on the street. I don't though because I'm very tight!

The machine's not so clever it can recognise the lead pound coins I make in the garage though. ;)

but 50p here... i usually throw 1 p's at twits and tell em to call someone who cares :D

At the end of each day I put all 5's 2's and 1's in a money box which, when full, is cashed at Asda and divided between my grandchildren.

I put all coins under £1 into a jar and bank the contents every 6 months or so.

I hate having any coins TBH as too many leave (more :p ) bulges in my jeans pockets, for that reason I voted for £5 as the minimum denomination I care about. I still think we should bring back £1 notes, though (and hanging/stocks/national service etc etc) ;)

I leave spare £1 coins in the cars' ashtrays to pay for parking etc.....

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Me and a nunns chuff are twins, I'm the bloke in front of you at Aldi counting out coppers for a pint of milk.
