Is it possible to obtain a switch to go between the front fog and rear demister switches on the lights pod. I think it normally has the cruise control there but my Z doesn't use it. I want to use the switch for rear fog lights I am fitting.

Can anyone help?

As far as I'm aware there were two versions made of the right hand side pod - one with cruise control buttons and one without. The cruise control button is not available on it own.

I wouldn't recommend buying another pod with the cruise control button and modifying the wiring at the back mainly because any fog light switch needs to be clearly illuminated when in use (MOT requirement) and the cruise control switch does not light up. I would also hazard a guess that on non-cruise control equiped cars the cruise control light on the dash is also disabled.

I suppose you could modify the wiring to the cruise button as well as wire up a blank warning light on the dash in order to get around this but quite frankly I don't think it's worth the hassle.

You can get illuminated rocker switches (make sure you get a 12V version, not 24V) or wire in a small red LED inline with the switch. Then run a wire from the switch to the fog light and you're done, all for under £5!

Good idea but the three switches are different shapes so the front fog switch (at the bottom) wont fit into the centre position. I could try to use the 'blank' in the centre position to replace the top of a front fog switch but I would need a pod to experiment.

Has anyone a pod that would be suitable for me to play with?

I know about illuminated rocker switches but I am trying to find a more aesthetically pleasing solution, I certainly think that's worth some hassle.

OK here's my suggestion......

...UK cars have the rear fog switch where the J-spec front one is, but have a tell tale light on the dash pod. You could wire that in for your rear fog.

I have a UK spec car, but have fitted front fogs. I have fitted a rocker switch on top of the r/h pod for my front fogs; It looks OK but I am thinking of a better looking solution. I came up with the idea of getting the r/h pod from a LHD car and rigging up the hazard light switch from that to my front fogs. That would give a "balanced" effect on both pods. All I'd need to do is paint over the "hazard" symbol........

Still haven't done it after 3 years now, though :slap:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
