i have sourced an engine. whilst i have it out what should i do. is it worth replacing all the hoses. what about egr bypass? what else can i bypass. also is there a kit i can use to recon my turbos. there is nothing wrong with my turbos but i was thinking i may aswell whilst they are out

Featured Replies

EGR bypass and knock sensor harness I did on mine, plus a few water hoses. Check your turbos too. Mine were in very very good condition so put reused them.

what is the knock sensor harness mate? what do i do? replace it or bypass it

Replace it. The wiring gets brittle and breaks down. It's not a huge wiring loom, just a plug and play section about 20cm long. It clips into the sensor round at the back of the engine.

MJP sells them. Think they are about £35

I had the AIV & PRVR systems removed, all the Air-Con removed, plenum water by-pass, relocated the PTU to the right side of the engine and put a lightened underdrive pulley on while my engine was out.

Why the engines out.

Replace knock sensor and harness, O2 Sensors and harnesses. Get shot of any system you dont realy need, HICAS is one that spring to mind, others are EGR etc.

Rplace any hose you can.

There is in fact a FAQ on this subject dotting about, which is where I got my info from.

putting a lightened pulley on, will do a plenum water bypass. how do i do it? keeping my aircon tho. i like it.
