any one know where the best place to get a front mount intercooler and fitting kit from please

The £599 fmic kit is by a very long way the cheapest UK supplied setup for the z32

have received only one order so far.

an intercooler upgrade ( copy or not ) if your not running mega boost i wouldnt have though mattered Mike , it would be still an upgrade over standard, i can understand in your case with the BHP zedzilla is producing , but for my pawltry 320bhp i think babuches would be fine ....what do you think

It's not quite as simple as that bud. In respect of some copies, cheaper parts and cheaper manufacturing costs result in poorer performance. Whilst you might think hey it's a cooler and with solid end tanks so it must be better than stock ones, it all comes down to type of cores used, quality of welding and bending can in some cases make pipework more restrictive than OEM. The grade, thickness of alloy, the size of the I/D of the pipe and more importantly the port size, ALL play a part in making a cooler efficient or crap.

Bear in mind this is a FMIC kit, of all the types available, this style is THE one that needs to perform better than the rest given it's location.

In respect of the altezza kit, £599 is meaga cheap, you wanna guess how much trade is and they still make a profit :eek: and this is all meant to reduce yer intake charge temperatures to preserve yer engine!

IMO it's one of those typical products that once fitted you've no idea and a year or so down the line when summit happens, it's all too easy to blame something else internally or bad mapping.

Honestly, save up and get some decent SMIC's bud :)

Trust me mate, i've spent years being associated with Alloy fabricators of rads and coolers, it's ONLY a bargain if it works and thats my point.

Stock ones arn't bad cores, crap end tanks yes, in the correct position yes.

With respect to what Smithy has said - he's spot on. I've recently had a Lambo Gallardo customer (has a 2006 SE) change his exhaust for a so-called performance exhaust (can't remember the make but it is well known). Put it on the dyno and the car put out 60bhp less! Just goes to show that "upgraded" is not always better. Needless to say the stock exhaust is back on the G-car!

Ive got one coming from source as ive found the manufacturer.and for what its costing im willing to take a gamble.you pays your money you takes your choice.but every now and again some things arent to good to be true.for example just by having a search tonight ive found a set of wiesco pistons,eagle forged rods,and cometic head gaskets all for less than £500!!!!!.

there are some bargains to be had sometimes.in 4 weeks i will let you all know if its any good. :hyper:

I think the main points of view is you post a big list of FMIC's you can supply which indecates your a trader!! just because you buy from someone else and sell on still makes you a trader ;)

 

The other thing which worries people is the quality of a "COPY" also i wouldnt want to be in the shoes of the people copying them if HKS find out as i presume there would be legal action.

 

I love it that people are willing to put their whole car at risk to save a few hundred quid :confused: :nono: when your dealing with a high performance car you can NOT cut corners, yes theres deals to be had but trust me cheap nasty knock off stuff is not the way to go especially when you can get the full greddy FMIC kit for about £700 ish
