I took the Zed for her 2nd attempt MOT today and she's passed! :D

Whilst running to and from the MOT station, I think I found why my new tubs aren't producing any positive boost! I have a huuuge boost leak (constant pssst on idle) which seems to be under the passenger side of the plenum. I'm guessing that a pipe has popped off as the plenum was only recently refitted...

Any ideas what pipe this may be and is it likely to be repairable with plenum in place? If I can get this sorted by the weekend, then maybe I can take her to the rolling road day after all

Many thanks for any ideas!

Thanks for the replies fellas

I've got a boost leak detector but I'm not sure it'll help much as it's hissing away like a goodun anyway when the car is idling. I was just hoping to get an idea of the possible vacuum pipe culprit under there :)

I've got a spare plenum in the garage so will take a look at that tomorrow

Only things I can think of 'down there' Steve, is boost solenoid piping and of course the hose on the tub itself??

On the other hand, if you use the detector you can listen closely for leaks without risking burning your ear. ;) Do you think it's actually under the plenum or just to the side?

Maybe the diagram helps? http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=efec&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=12&design=default&total=190

Found it

First off, supported the bonnet with an appropriate bonnet stay replacement...

After much faffing, I discovered that the vacuum pipe from this connector on the plenum had been trapped under my front strut brace tower and had been damaged...

Should be able to replace this (if I can find out where it goes  ) and be back in business for Saturday

I also found this connector was unplugged (front left of pass side suspension tower). Is this one of the stock boost solenoid connectors?
