Thinking about fitting Nitrous...who has it on here?

Iv been talking to a mate of mine for a while now about Nitrous oxide and its kinda got me swaying towards getting it fitted..........iv been told a wet kit is the best one to go for.......

Who here has one on a Manual Twin Turbo and what kinda kit and performance increase did they find.............how bad can it be for my engine?

Any information will be helpful.........or even better experiences using the stuff

Cheers

speak to vinz, or jimjitsu has it on his NA, was gonna use it on my TT and found wizards of NOS very very helpful. They have a forum, which is highpower.co.uk or something similar.

It's good but bloody expensive. Had it on my Prelude. Make sure you get a progressive wet kit. A grand should see you all set up but it's the gas itself thats bloody crippling. at around £50 to fill a 10pound bottle that should last you an evenings play. HTH

P.S. You will need an uprated clutch. Oh and the downside is if you're running a big shot, you'll need a timing adjustment that will make your Zed slower when not using the juice... unless the technology has changed recently :)

Fas, you should speak to Stuart (street car champ) and John Dixon,

Stuart will fit a wet kit for you, as he has offered for me before.

And John should be able to sort you out with a switchable map so you can run one map for on the Nos and another for when you're not.

Stuart is the actual guy who iv been talking to about this........LOL

We were talking about some other items on his chevy and the discussion came up about Nitrous.........im really thinking into this as i reckon it'l be a good thing to have...........

Obviously hes gonna be fitting it for me as hes got it set up on his car

Just wanna know what im gonna need to back it all up and what gains i expect to get............would love to sit in a car with nitrous in it and see what the difference is..........problem is im limited for space as the boot will be filled with I.C.E and the only other place is between the two seats in the back.........

Might be worth seeing how much your insurnace might go up to :(

Vijay

insurance and NOS the two don't go together. it one or the other.

if you catch my drift

Adrian Flux will do cover on a sort of percentage power increase over standar, percentage increase in premium. (ie if nitrous boosts power by 25% over standard, they'll increase the premium 25%)

Hi Bud

I have been using nitrous for about 2 1/2 years, I have tried all sorts of jetting combinations, also fitted and tuned a few kits, also sell refills.

There are a few things that are impotant when using nitrous on a 300 tt, If you like I will give you a phone and go over what you need.

(Pulling hard acceleration in 3rd gear then you hit the nos switch and get an instant 125hp increase and about a 130ft/lb increase in torque, can be addictive.)

Im not looking for a major set up.........maybe an extra 50-75bhp jets as i wanna maintain the reliability on my zed and not melt or blow anything up.............obviously things are gonna be a little more stressed but i just wanna find out what strain is it gonna put on my engine

Was thinking about a progressive controller but on 50-75 bhp jets, i dont think it will be much help as im sure the engine can handle that

Iv seen three different kits so far.........Edelbrock, NOS, Nitrous Express (NX)

Just wondering if i do go for one of these kits then what should i go for?

Try Rob B - he was running a direct port setup (safest by a LONG way esp on the VG30 due to poor intake design starving the rear cylinders of fuel on basic wet systems). Not the easiest install but not that hard....

Come on mate give me some directions and dont reply with "follow the yellow brick road" yeh :p

yes i do have NOS and yes it's great ...... .....

n/a or TT or manual....make's no odd's.......as people have said wet kit and have it fixed by a pro....

i have the all singing and dancing one £2250+++.two 11 pound bottle's...

ok power...you can run about 100/150shot with the standard engine..but with mod's ,,you can go up to 400/500shot witch is = to 350/450bhp+your engine power....so you can get 600/700bhp@rear wheel's....

if you wanna chat my number is 07798625541......

thank's wozza....

..

Dont bother Andy as im getting a rather good price on a Nitrous kit from a mate...........will probably not set me back more than £400 with all the trick bits aswell so would rather buy a brand new one.........will atleast get a warranty with the kit if it goes wrong or starts to have bits missing

Thanks anyway

Doh... too late... never mind :D

£2250+++ :shock:

So you reckon 100bhp shot would be good for someone like me with standard mods other than exhaust and apexi air filter

Do you reckon i would need a progressive controller? Or would my engine be fine with it.......

Will i also need a uprated clutch?

If i have anymore questions nearer the time then i will defianetly be calling you

Cheers Mate

yeah up to 150shot that's 75/75 each side....

progressive controller is a better idea as it will push the nos in slowly and that's a good thing ,,,if you just dump 100shot in to your engine...you will have prob's VERY fast....

you can run 2 map's aswell 1 for the TT and 1 for TT+nos......

call any time bud if you need help... :)

I get the feeling this is gonna get expensive.........im thinking 50bhp on each side would be better and a little more safe.......i got a very heavy right foot

Anyway im gona pop round and have a look at your set up anyway

no worries bud anytime ,,just give us a call..... :)

I reckon the cost of the install + the ongoing costs of refilling the nitrous is better spent on permanent power mods. This way you can have the extra power all the time, less likely to cause problems long term, and probably cheaper long term!

all my opinion, though i have no personal experience with NOS

of course NOS on a big engine build at the drag strip in another thing ;)

that's why i run two map's 1 for the nos and 1 for the n/a engine.... :)
