it was for sale fairly recently so my first thoughts are keep away as its far too cheap for something little like a misfire, could be plugs, coil packs, AFMs etc pretty much the same stuff as the zed?

i have seen this on ebay (i know ebay :slap: ) but look at its FSH, low miles UK model what would it be worth if the missfire was sorted

seen what on e-bay.post a link!

i know its a risk but i could spend a few grand getting the missfire sorted if its that simple, would someone like AA or RAC be able to tell me whats wrong

Missfire more than likely damaged valve or (more likely) piston damage....

i seriously doubt the RAC or AA would have any clue!! they will look under the engine bay and scratch their head lol

wasnt the one i was thinking of

RB26 has the same weakness as the VG30 - weak ring lands on the pistons. Another car that suffers from 'bolt-on mod syndrome' LOL

yes and no, there are plenty of well maintained skylines running circa 600 bhp and not had any issues

its certainly a stronger oem engine than the VG30 but again it all boils down to how its looked after lol

middlehurst used to be very good at tuning/servicing skylines but they lost most of the staff who setup their own business doing it ;) now known as RB Motorsports.

Go on the GTR club or the skyline owners club and ask if someone will go with you who knows them well??

i got in touch with him and he has been told ots the piston rings. how much would it be to repair and what wpuld the car be worth when done up

Depends if you are doing the work yourself. Deffo engine out job, not too difficult if you have access to a proper ramp. More likely ring lands than the rings themselves. Expect to buy a set of pistons (set of wiesco shouldn't set you back too much and better than OEM). Also HG will need replacing... You can pull the head without removing most of the intake/exhaust components so that should save you on the gaskets...
