Since having my car converted from Auto to Manual I've noticed by Speedometer is out by about 20mph. In addition to this I now have a problem where the needle doesn't move at all and then bursts into life when it feels like it.

Do I need to change the clock and once I have will I still have the 20mph error?

It was suggested that when the gearbox is changed the speedometer needs to be changed. Anyone know if this is true or can anyone shed some light on a potential fix please?

Thanks in advance.

Dont think you need to change the dials with a new gearbox.

When I first got my Z the dials would die and then spring in to life. It turned out to be bad dials. You could try resoldering the points on the back of the speedo.

When the speedo dies does anything happen to your steering?

You shouldn't need to change the speedo with a AT-MT conversion

More likely there's something wrong with the speedsensor in the gearbox or wiring to/from the sensor

Speedo is OK for man and auto. It sounds like the speed sensor mounted on the side of the gearbox. They can shred the crown wheel at the end. It's a bugger to get to and I think you have to take off the exhaust to get to it. Is anything else wrong because the speed sensor feeds into the ECU for the HICAS and even power steering. When mine went the HICAS light came on, the speedo and the power steering packed up.

Cheers,

Steve.

No I'm not seeing any other problems just the gauge is obviously out.
