i dont think most people drive in hold as this is just for holding it in second gear when pulling away in slippery conditions

Form what I know, teh Hold button changes gears at lower revs, so in theory it should save some petrol... but it does start from second gear, so you need to floor it a bit to start moving.

Do a search as this has been discussed a couple of times at least.

snx.

i thought the hold button was to hold the gear for longer, meaning it will change up later therefor using more petrol.... i maybe wrong though

thats the power button mate

i have a different interpritation of the hold button. i thort it held the car in whatever gear it was in when the button pressed

The HOLD button is a waste of time .....don't use it !!!!!!!!!! ;)

..

From previous threads about the Hold button....

If placed in Hold, the Zed will start off in first, then into second and not allow it to drop back into first, ie for slippery/snowy conditions.

Keeping the Hold button activated will damage your gearbox and is not recommended.

HTH ;)

If you're worried about fuel consumption.....

You're driving the wrong car bud ;)

i thought hold in 4th would keep the revs low, why does it knacker the gbox?

im telling you nobody actually likes the fact that the zed is a guzzler, o.k we expect it as its a 3ltr blah blah?

if i could flick a switch for when im just hanging back that would save me petrol i would use it, i wish i could turn the turbos off sometimes as im not always in the mood to boot it, i like the fact that i can tho.

juice is going up and the zed loves to eat it, although i got some of that v power for about 95p today so i filled her up quick smart.

ta for the replies (apart from andyduff ;) )

v power for 95p. thats ceap

:slap: that was meant to say cheap

Why would it keep the revs low? It doesn't hold the revs, it holds the box from changing down!

ANYTHING can fook these boxes up :D you don't need to help it on the way. It's the same as not having it on O/D or using the Power button all the time as well, they just arn't built for that way, they are occasional use items.

Incidentally, if you haven't already got one, get yourself a auto box oil cooler fitted, it'll save you a lot of money in the future, trust me, I know ;)

It depends on what you hold.

ie if you hold a rope that is attached to a moving vehical in front of you this vastly reduces fuel consumption, so long as you keep your car in neutral and hand brake off.

Ever thought of using your cruise control mate and letting the computer do it for you?

Ever thought of using your cruise control mate and letting the computer do it for you?

and that's a no no too ...... :nono:

...

Go on, why? :D

Go on, why? :D

'cause you ain't driving the car is .....sorry not a big fan of cc......

...

Damn I need to get my CC checked, it doesn't work the steering anymore

nowt wrong with cruise control late at night, when your tired, its a long journey and you just want to chill along at a stready motorway pace.

...and since this a MPG related thread....I've returned 33mpg! on a 100mile motorway drive with cruise control set to 80mph....

....but when I let myself control the throttle the mpg drops significantly ;)

not much point in cc as mine doesn`t work above 70 mph !!! whats that all about?
It doesn't work on red cars :p
